As the team sit in the Players' Lounge watching Wigan hammer Man U's title hopes, Katy has spent the past day in Jimmy's company, following her botched wedding to Jason. Steve phones Jimmy and tells him the news from the game, as a still weeping Katy sits in a towel. Jimmy realises he should get back to the club, and tells Katy to borrow anything she needs (clearly from Gemma’s wardrobe). On his driveway, Jimmy is approached by Phil, who asks him to come and see Jason as they are worried about him. Jason is unresponsive, and Deano adds that Katy was all he had.

At training, Steve shows off the medal he received at Blackburn, when they won the Premier League in May 1995. The team are surprised when Sully reveals he is one short on appearances, so even if the Dragons win the title this coming Sunday, he won't be receiving one. Danny joins the lads in their training exercises, hoping he can still pull it off and Jimmy would allow him to play the one last game he needs. Jimmy speaks with him alone, and says he cannot allow this, as Danny could permanently damage his knee and end up a cripple. Worried about Danny's emotions following this news, Jimmy talks with Amy who arrives to find Sully throwing things around the dressing room.

Katy returns to the house and Phil and Deano leave her to discuss things with Jason. All Jason can say is that he loves her, but Katy is furious that her wedding dress is in a bin-liner. She tells Jason he could have told her at any time in the last four months, but chose to humiliate her in front of everyone she knew. Danny stays up after Amy has gone to bed, and pulls out a disc featuring Katy and Jimmy openly discussing their kiss, having been recorded in Jimmy’s office with the Spy KT. He is in the process of typing a hate-fuelled letter to Jimmy, warning he is about to expose him for the hypocrite he is, when Amy comes out. She assumes Danny is writing his resignation following the news of his non-medal, and takes it from him. To her horror, Amy fears she has stumbled across the real Dragonslayer - her boyfriend!

Amy locks herself in the bedroom and tells Danny it all makes sense to her now - his hatred for Jimmy would stem from the injury he picked up after being forced to Southend. Danny denies he is Dragonslayer, and says the letter she saw was sent to him by the real Dragonslayer, who is now after him. Amy doesn't believe it as she asks Danny how many lives he's ruined. Jimmy gets home to find Katy has left him a note after returning to her parents. She thanks Jimmy for his kindness, and says she is now unsure who she hates the most - herself or Jason. She hopes Jimmy can forgive her involvement in their sleeping together last night, and that he can forget about it, as she wants to.

With Amy barricaded in their bedroom, Danny goes alone to the training ground dressing room, leaving a series of letters for Jimmy and the team including himself. The team enter and find the letters, with Jimmy's envelope containing the disc of his and Katy's conversation, which Liam pretends he hasn't noticed. The team's letters read a short message of how "trusted coach Danny Sullivan" has been sleeping with Cindi Moody! Gavin flips, and goes for Danny, believing it is true. He lists how the stuff about Liam and Gemma was true, and how Danny has form after Kim.

A short time later, Cindi sits with Amy in her office telling how she can't get through to Katy, when Amy comes across her own letter from Dragonslayer. Opening it, it reads the same as those left for the team, as the unaware Cindi wonders how long Jason and Emma were seeing each other behind Katy's back. Danny dashes in and sees Amy has the letter. He squeamishly says it's just Dragonslayer messing with them, but Amy gets upset and slaps him. Cindi gets home to find Gavin tearing through rubbish bags on the front lawn. He is looking for evidence of her affair, as she cries that it's not true. Gavin finds a discarded pregnancy test which reads positive, and accuses Cindi of being pregnant with Danny's child. Cindi weeps that she was going to surprise Gavin with the news today, but he won't listen, and accuses her of allowing him to bring up another man's child.

Liam asks Jimmy what the disc was he received, Jimmy tells him he hasn't watched it, and is about to break it when Liam stops him, adding Dragonslayer more than likely has copies. Jimmy allows Liam to sit in with him while he plays the disc, and soon sees footage of himself and Katy. Jimmy knows what is coming, and Liam hears their discussion over the kiss. Liam insists to Jimmy he doesn't have to defend himself to him, but rather it should be Jason he is owning up to. Jimmy says it was just a kiss and went no further(!), and Liam tells him this has to come from him now, before Dragonslayer gets to Jason themselves.

As Danny tries to talk Amy out of the locked-bedroom once more, Cindi arrives at the flat in a state. She wants Danny to help her convince Gavin that she is not pregnant with his child, and a horrified Amy hears the whole thing. She now believes this is why Danny tried to hide the letter she took from him last night, because Dragonslayer was threatening to expose his affair with Cindi. And when she found him smashing up the dressing room yesterday, it was when he’d learnt of Cindi's pregnancy. Danny tries to tell her she's got it all wrong but Amy thinks it works out - after all he and Cindi have both cheated before.

When Jimmy shows Katy the disc footage, she tells him Jason cannot know about this, and until they slept together she had never cheated on him before. Jimmy tells her he has to, as he might need Jason to play in tomorrow night’s game against Charlton, and they are about to play the club's biggest game in 21 years. Katy is outraged her whole life is coming second to a football game, just so Jimmy can keep Jason on his side so he'll play for him. Jimmy insists he must tell Jason in order to save their manager/player relationship, because if Dragonslayer gets there first, it will be permanently destroyed. Katy gives in, but states she will be there when he admits all to Jason.

When Jason is told, he turns on Katy for letting him stand in front of everyone at the wedding and admit what he did, while she said nothing. Jason wants to know if it went further than a kiss, and Katy tells him straight it didn't, to Jimmy's discomfort. He tells Jason the coach leaves in an hour and he'd really like him to be on it. Danny goes with Liam to see Gavin, and pleads with him to talk to Amy and convince her he isn't the father of her best friend's child. Gavin says it's too late however - as he's realised he still doesn't trust Cindi, and can’t have forgiven her for the Ryan fling. Liam won't hear anymore, and says he will round up the players before they leave and will sort this once and for all.

Jason meanwhile, has written a letter to Katy by hand, as the only way to truly explain his feelings to her. He joins Danny and Gavin in Liam's Range Rover for the journey to the club, where his tracksuit is mistakenly switched with Danny's along the way. Katy and Cindi sit outside in the stands, where Katy learns Cindi is pregnant. They are joined by Amy, who is forced to see sense when Cindi makes it clear she has a husband she loves, and Dragonslayer should really have done better to pick someone for her to have an affair with than Danny.

Liam says he knows Dragonslayer is in the room right now and wants to search everyone's property. Danny is worried as the search begins, with him holding an original draft of his latest Dragonslayer letter, but checking his pocket he finds Jason's note to Katy. When it comes to Jason's search, the original draft is found as he has Sully's tracksuit. The team, led by Liam, turn on Jason, and expel him from the squad, with even Jimmy believing they have found the real Dragonslayer. After scoring the winning goal at the Charlton game, Gavin lifts his shirt to reveal a t-shirt with "Are you watching Dragonslayer" emblazoned across in black pen.

Notes:

·         Continuity: Jason met Katy at an away-game to Preston in the Carling Cup. Fletch missed the ball and Katy yelled "Oi Fletcher! You want me to come down there and show you your arse from your elbow?!”. As we see in the next episode, Jason and Katy were together to see Fletch’s testimonial just before the 2003-04 season began (294: Long Live The King), so they likely would have first met during the 2002-03 season. References to past affairs involving Ryan and Cindi (366: ‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly), Danny and Amy (369: Unleash Hell; although Amy is rather hypocritical in this episode regarding those events!) and Danny and Kim (397: Sick of Christmas).

Additional Info: This is writer/producer Jesse O’Mahoney’s last penned episode, having written on a total of 43 episodes for the series since his first with 299: A Little Less Conversation in Season 7. Like many of DT’s employees in front and behind the camera, he moves on to “Hollyoaks” and later “EastEnders” as one of the storylining team (both under producer Bryan Kirkwood’s time as boss of both shows). Danny was twelve years old when he was picked up by Orient, now eighteen years ago. Jason’s seat number at the Lair is Block 19 Row G Seat no. 24.

·         What Was The Score?: Harchester play Charlton at The Valley, where after many good strikes a goal is slotted in by Gavin, thus winning the match.

Soundtrack: Jet: "All You Have To Do",  Radiohead: "Dollars & Cents",  Sigur Ros: "Andvari" and "Hjartao Hamast."

Screencaps from 10.30’s original broadcast on Sky One on 20/05/07.
