In the spring of 1998, Nottingham Forest manager Dave Bassett had his eye on bringing Harchester United's Dean Hocknell to The City Ground. Chairwoman Stephanie Jacobs, determined to remove Hocknell from Harchester and more importantly, out of her daughter's life, was more than happy with the three-million-pound approach. Returning from a six-week loan spell in Italy, Dean arrives back to Frank advising him on behalf of Coates who wants him to stay not to sign anything until the manager gets back from Derby County. Biloo tries to tempt Dean with the move to Forest, with how he'll be asking for 10 grand a week, a 100K signing on fee and a bonus if they make the Premiership. Dean remarks they want rid of him more than he thought, before accepting Biloo's offer. Frank tries a last ditch attempt to get Dean to stay at Harchester, reminding him how he trained him and knows the club stands the best chance of surviving in the Premiership with Dean here. Dean ultimately tells Dave and Stephanie he cannot sign for Forest as he feels he has unfinished business in Harchester, and Stephanie is not impressed.
