Based in Italy while he was playing for Roma, Casper was home at the end of the 2004-05 season and ready for some fun at a big house party she was holding while husband Paul was away. Also attending is member of the Ajax coaching team Ashleigh King, kitted out in a blonde wig, tight fit dress and knocking back a bottle of vodka to herself. Cass is intrigued enough to end up falling into Annabelle's swimming pool with Ashleigh fully clothed, later taking his new lover up to old lover Annabelle's bedroom. The guests are distracted downstairs by news of the Harchester United coach explosion in Cardiff, and Casper joins them to take in the news. By the time he has remembered Ashleigh she has left the house, and seemingly his life. That summer, a new owner at Harchester instructs new manager Felix Hahn into bringing Casper and his estranged brother Eugene to the club, and arriving for his medical, Cass is stunned to discover Ashleigh has also been taken on by the club. When Ashleigh doesn't remember the night in question, Casper orchestrates things so that Ashleigh delivers his contract to Annabelle's house, the scene of the party. Cass is of course half-dressed after more afternoon delight with Annabelle, but she is shocked when Paul arrives home unexpectedly, and walks in as Casper has thrown his clothes back on. As Cass puts the pressure on Ashleigh to explain why they are there, Ash plays along and announces Casper wants to but their house. Continuing their affair at Casper's house at The Barrons, Cass questions Annabelle on how Ashleigh came to be at the party, but Annabelle claims not to have known Ash and assumed she was a gatecrasher. With Felix rattled over Cass sniffing around Ashleigh who is also his secret lover, he drops him for the home Man City game at the Lair. Cass has invited Annabelle as his guest, and gets a shock, not because Paul narrowly misses him snogging his wife, but because Annabelle takes off her long coat to reveal the tight fit dress Ashleigh wore to the party. Pretending they will make love in the toilets, Cass sneaks away with the dress to confront Ashleigh, leaving Annabelle confused in only her pink bra and panties. Needless to say the relationship ends after this.
