Duval (William Travis) 2006 Duration: EP: 381 - 385 | SE: 9.25 – 9.29 Duval is a long-time confidant of Casper Rose, yet their relationship could be described as very cloak-and-dagger. Their association is never properly explained. What is known is that Duval has been a present, yet discreet, part of Casper's adult life, and that during the years Eugene lived with the Rose family and played alongside Casper at Charlton Athletic, he was not aware of Duval at all, this confirmed when Duval suddenly takes up the chief executive role at Harchester United in 2006. Going back further, Duval attends Terry's wake at the Rose family home, where Casper first learns of Terry's paternity of Alex Dempsey, and then some time later he is present with Cass at home when they see Alex's career-ending injury and decide to send him to Steadman for specialist treatment. It leaves open theories, ranging from Duval being Casper's Godfather, to Casper having even more secrets, and alongside his eye for the ladies was in a secret bisexual relationship with Duval. Whatever the true nature, it is clear Duval has a background in business, and is the only person in on Casper's endeavor to buy Harchester United in order to reunite himself with the estranged Eugene and get his football career back to its best. At times, when Casper is otherwise engaged with his career as a striker, or stranding the team in France on the first day of the season, or getting shot(!), Duval is at the other end of the Dragonscorp phone number/e-mail, as seen when Felix Hahn and Amy Kerrigan have live conversations over the owner's latest antics. Duval also takes the reigns when Cass is on Gavin Moody's forest stag do, in desperate attempt to contact Lynda when it is announced the owner is selling the club, really postroom man Lenny Clarke usurping his identity and stealing two-million pounds from the fans. When Lynda is charged and held in custody, Cass is without a figurehead at the Dragon's Lair, and appoints Duval to stand in as chief exec. It isn't long before Duval has been drawn into another of Cass's schemes, after he believes Ryan slept with his girlfriend Ashleigh. Duval is not happy about it, but assists Cass in his mission to set up Ryan to fix a game and get caught. When Casper sees that Eugene is in the photos of the fix, he knows he cannot use them and jeopardise his brother. But what it does result in is Lynda on the case that the Rose brothers are connected to the owner. Duval persuades Casper that it would be best if he revealed himself now, as this is damaging not only the club but the team. After Alex learns the truth and accidentally kills Casper, it is revealed that Duval was appointed executor of Cass's will, which he reads to the boardroom. And that as Casper owned the club, it will now go to Eugene and Alex, with the final condition being, Alex must take the Rose name. Duval states that as Eugene and Alex now own the club, they are entitled to appoint a new Chief Executive, but it won't be him, and he leaves.
