Danielle Brent is our new Dream girl- and she's happy to be seen in her glam glory at long last. She shot to fame in Hollyoaks as lesbian eco-warrior Gina Patrick, who also supported combat gear. Now she's happy to have landed a role in Dream Team- because it means she does not have to look like a scruff anymore. But Danielle looks even better stripped down to her sexy scanties!
The 23 year old says: "I've never played a glamorous character before. When I was in Hollyoaks, I couldn't even wear make-up. I spent four years in combats and trainers. They actually used to make me look worse. They put black under my eyes and greased down my hair because that was the producers idea of what a 'lesbian eco-warrior' looked like! I used to plead with them 'please make me look nice for once'. So its a real change to play Jennifer in Dream Team because they asked me to change my hair and glam up."
One person who isn't so happy with her new sexy role is Danielle's boyfriend club owner Ben Fairman, 27. That's because she'll be kissing blokes rather than girls. "He will be upset that I might now be kissing boys," she says. "He didn't think me kissing girls was so bad. Lorna Pegler, who played Emily -the girl I used to kiss in Hollyoaks - is actually one of my best friends. So it wasn't a problem for me. It was probably easier than having the politics of kissing a guy. But at the end of the day it is just a job, I know what work is and what real life is".
In Dream Team, Danielle plays Jennifer Taylor, PA and down-trodden lover to Harchester United boss Alan Rothman (Glenn Murphy). But she is set to take revenge on the rat by having a fling with a player. "She started out as wholesome and needing her lover," says Danielle. "But she is about to go through a transition, because she finds out Alan is getting engaged to another woman. I hope she is about to get a bit of a backbone and sort herself out. I think viewers are really going to like her and be on her side, and I think that her guy is a real arse! Jennifer is also set to have a fling with Marcel Sabatier (D'hafer L'Abidine) which could blossom in the new series."
In real life, Danielle is certainly a plucky lass who can stand on her own two feet. She was just 17 when she left her family in London and moved to Liverpool for her role in Hollyoaks. "It was defiantly a character-building experience," she says. "I made some amazing friends and it was a brilliant time." Danielle quit the show about 18 months ago. "I really wanted to leave with a bang, but instead Gina went off to China to save orphans or something. I had some dramatic storylines, where I got kidnapped and then my leaving storyline was so rubbish. I just got in a taxi and left."
Danielle now divides her time between her flat in London's docklands and boyfriend Ben's flat in West London. So has she got any plans to return to Hollyoaks? "You never say never, but I don't think so," she admits. "I would like to do independent movies. There is also a TV comedy / drama that I am being lined up for in the new year. That will be amazing for me." It will be great for male fans, too, who will want to see a whole lot more of this telly teaser - in AND out of her glam gear!
