David Hill is believed to have written 1 episode of DT, 1.8 (#8) Two Escapes In 24 Hours Wednesday 5th November 1997, owing to there being many uncredited episodes during Seasons 1 and 2. His name featured in every closing credit sequence as the man who DT was "Based on an original idea by" after he and Jane Hewland had devised the programme in the years before its commissioning. Jane told harchester.net in 2005: "David Hill, then Head of Sky Sports, came up with it back in 1994. We were producing a show for Sky One at the time called Gamesworld. He called me up and posed a question: what are the two types of programming most popular with Sky viewers? His answer was football (most Sky viewers at that time were buying dishes to get the Premiership) and 'soaps'. So why not make a soap about football. He intended it to be five nights a week.
