When trying to fit Ryan up for match fixing, Casper hires Jimmy AKA Birdman who concocts a plan with Ryan that once the referee for the FA Cup qualifier against Charlton has been removed, his brother Ian Finch will take over and favour Harchester. When Eugene has Jimmy beaten up for Ryan “owing him money”, Ryan believes Finch is going against Harchester on purpose, as he makes a number of unfavourable decisions on the pitch. After the game Finch yells at Lynda and Ryan outside the Valley that he is quitting as a professional referee and doesn't know anyone called Jimmy, let alone have a brother. So in the end Finch wasn't bent, he was just a bad ref! |

Befriends Hector when he has just moved to Harchester and is friendless. Works as a chambermaid at the Grange and shares common ground with Hector as Portuguese is her first language. Hector offers to take care of she and her young son, by showering her with money, but Isabel wants to continue working. When her brother Gael takes Hector's request to have Ryan sorted out in revenge, she reminds Hector he will be the first person the police come looking for. |

Has the misfortune of having to interrogate William Marquess and Keith Edwards when they are discovered as causing the trouble which got the Harchester/Lazio game abandoned. When Dean Boyle is advised to cut them loose for being thugs, the Policeman uses it to taunt the men on how Dean has said any Harchester fan caught up in the race riot will be banned from travelling abroad to games. He then sees that Marquess and Edwards are sent home from Italy. |

Meets and marries Gemma Craig when she is on holiday in Turkey. Gemma brings him to Harchester where her father has just landed the manager's job, and punches him. When Gemma's mother Rachel arrives, she conspires to get Izmet out of Gemma's life, and it pays off (literally) when Izmet takes ten grand from Rachel to leave. |
