As Jimmy prepares for his first game in charge of the Dragons, he gets the lads to test their heart-rates with a new technology to see whose fit and who isn't. By the end of the exercise, an obstinate Sully is the one lacking behind, and Jimmy's own rate gets up when Terry arrives with Alan Curbishley for a guided tour of the training facilities. Shakey hands out the heart-monitors to the lads, for them to wear until tomorrow. Sully decides he has a better idea regarding Jimmy's instructions, and pays the canteen lady £200 to wear it instead, coaxing Miguel to do the same. Amy tells Danny she has had Kim on the phone, about he not picking the kids up. Liam meanwhile is working extra hard to make up for the days he lost at home, and entering the showers, a young girl spooks him. The girl makes him promise not to tell anyone he saw her, and runs right into Jimmy who sees that the girl is his daughter, Gemma! Kim yells at Danny for letting the twins down, and refuses to let him see them.

As Jimmy and Steve plot on how to keep their jobs, Gemma introduces the guest she has invited, a man named Izmet, her husband! Jimmy is enraged, and floors Izmet, in front of Harrison and Curbishley. As Gemma tends to her injured husband, she phones her mom to get here. When Rachel Craig is told who Izmet is, she too wants to get her hands on him. Rachel tells Jimmy to just concentrate on keeping his job while she sorts whoever has married their daughter out. The next day at training, Jimmy lets Miguel and Sully know their plan obviously gave them away, and fines Danny a week's wages, making him feel Jimmy is against him even more. Amy takes Sully to a new apartment complex where she believes she's found them the perfect new home. Danny is worried about spending too much money, as he's already paying enough with Kim. With this, Amy takes it upon herself to visit Kim, and asks if she could just lay off Danny for a bit as he has a lot on his plate right now. Kim doesn't take too kindly to Amy's request and tells her to get Danny to come himself next time, and to stick to being his slapper!

Rachel makes her play for Izmet whilst Gemma is absent, questioning how much he would pay for Gemma's “happiness”. The day of Jimmy's big game in charge arrives, and Rachel informs Gemma and Izmet she has organised a meeting with an immigration lawyer. She gets Gemma out of the way so she and Izmet can "attend" alone. Sully’s day gets off to a bad start when he discovers Kim has emptied the remainder of their joint-savings account, and then learns that Jimmy isn't starting him for the game. Jimmy hands the captain's armband over to a surprised Liam. The team go out to face Fulham, and shortly after kick-off Rachel arrives without Izmet, and informs Gemma that Izmet has gone after signing a legal document officially annulling the marriage. Gemma is furious with her mother and accuses her of bribing Izmet, which Rachel admits to, adding that Izmet took ten grand. A heartbroken Gemma runs away from her mother. Harchester are 1-0 down come half time, and as Jimmy gives his team talk an emotional Gemma bursts into the dressing room crying that her father has ruined her life, before being escorted out by security and Jimmy completely thrown.

The Dragons win the game 2-1, and Jimmy goes to Gemma, telling his daughter he had no idea of the extent of Rachel's plan, but if he had, he would have helped her anyway as the end showed she did the right thing. Already in a mood following not being selected for the match, Sully is even more irate when Amy admits it was she who might have made Kim even more determined to get at them by going to see her. Sully has to face the truth that he might be the real problem himself, and is not the player he once was. Rachel and Gemma come to the decision that she should live here with her father, as she's barely got to see him what with his various footballing jobs. Jimmy is forced to agree, and tells Gemma she can stay, only with a whole book of ground rules accompanying it. Terry informs Jimmy that Alan Curbishley has decided against coming to Harchester, and, even though he will still be keeping his eye on the look-out, Jimmy can continue in the role as manager for as long as he keeps up the good results!
