Shakey (Simon Shakeshaft) 2006-2007
First Appearance: 10.1 (#388) Dragon Till I Die Last Appearance: 10.31 (#418) The Final Whistle Part 1 Position: Harchester United physio (2006-2007) Shakey joined the backroom staff of Harchester United in the 2006-07 pre-season following the club's second FA Cup win. He arrived alongside new First Team Coach Steve Kramer and they originally worked under manager Alex Rose. Early in the season, there is a change of leadership when Alex appoints his old team mate Jimmy Craig as the new manager, and proving himself to chairman Terry Harrison ensures that Shakey also gets to stay at the club as part of Jimmy's coaching team. As per his role as physio, Shakey's tasks revolve around the team. As the reserve team match against Orient proves to be many of the young side's best chance of being noticed by the new gaffer, Jason Porter is literally on his last chance as his one-month trial is almost up. In the game, Jason goes down with a nasty knock, and Shakey thinks he may have damaged a nerve. Jason shows strong determination however, and gets up wanting to continue, where soon he has contributed a goal.
An operator of sports science, Jimmy gets the lads to test their heart-rates with a new technology to see who is fit and who isn't. Shakey hands out the heart-monitors to the lads, for them to wear until tomorrow. When Miguel injures his ankle in the team's preparations for the Second Leg UEFA Cup Tie with Rangers, Jimmy is relieved to hear from Shakey that Miguel hasn't suffered any major ligament damage, but his chances of playing tomorrow stand at 50/50. The next morning, Jimmy arrives to check on Miguel's condition to find him in a totally new one, and is told by Shakey that Miguel was allergic to the coating on the tablets, and whilst his ankle has heeled perfectly, he has been up all night being sick so in no state to play.
There is drama later in the season when Jimmy is called to the physio room to find a drugged up Sully demanding his personal records from Shakey for a risky operation abroad. When Sully snatches the files away, Jimmy warns him if he leaves he will have no choice but to fire him meaning he would get no insurance. Outside, Danny collapses onto the car park ground. And when the team are about to play West Ham away at Upton Park, a whack from Miguel leaves Jason with concussion which Shakey adds will leave him unable to play.
