As Harchester secure a home win against Middlesbrough, Marilyn meets with Didier and Barbara, and Barbara has grudgingly agreed to the basic pay of £20K a week, but gives Marilyn 48 hours to finalise things as Arsenal are still interested. Luis knows he has to face Michael and tell him he will be sold, especially when Ray informs him Michael has now bought a house here. Ann is impressed with Kelly's skills at spotting which youth team players from local clubs like Coventry and Birmingham will be most likely to break through. Didier approaches Ann, and she is excited when he says he will introduce her to Barbara in regards to her doing his PR.

Luis gets his moment alone with Michael in the dressing room, and tells him when they have signed Didier he will play on the right side of defence. Michael believes this means he will have to switch to the left, but Luis makes it clear there will be no competition and Didier will always be his first choice. When Barbara asks who Ann represents, she has to awkwardly say Michael Dillon and Eddie Moliano of Harchester United, and Barbara informs her Didier will need one-to-one attention with someone who has worked with big clients. Didier speaks up for Ann, recommending her for already being at the club, and Barbara says they'll have a proper meeting next week.

Zena knocks back the champagne to pluck up courage to approach Wes to leave with her tonight. Kelly is serving when Gordon rubs his hand down her arm, witnessed by an uncomfortable Ann and Marilyn. When he later touches her bum, Kelly flips and yells never to touch her again, before dumping an ice bucket over Gordon's head! Kelly runs out crying, and Ann goes after her, where Kelly cries she's lost everything, Julie and now her job. Ann says she's been thinking and asks Kelly would she like to come and work as her assistant, as she's got the brains and knowledge.

Michael can't believe it when Luis says he's accepted a bid for him from Charlton, as being First Division why not a Premiership side? Luis says he tried to but he will still have a chance of promotion there. When Didier talks of partnering Michael as he's a strong player, he is told he is in fact replacing Michael, but Michael understands the situation. At that moment Michael enters, and accuses Luis, Ray and Didier of all being in it together being old mates, before raising a toast to how they all deserve each other at Harchester United.

The lads stand around talking about the Michael situation, and Eddie thinks it was bad they let Michael buy a house when he was going to be sold, while the others agree it was a football decision. Eddie and the boys are not impressed when Wes is dragged away by Zena, believing he should stay and face this with his team mates. Luis approaches the group, and says this was not about Didier being his mate but for the talent he will bring. The lads especially Eddie remain unconvinced, and Luis has a new divide in the team to deal with.

Marilyn follows Luis to his office, where she tells him not to be so hard on himself as his motives were good. Ann is confused as to why Michael has left without her, and thinks Ray isn't telling her something. Ann finds Michael drowning his sorrows in the dressing room, where he suggests they should go to the Millennium Dome in time for the new year, as his future is in Grenwich. Ann can't believe it when Michael tells her they are selling him to Charlton. In his office Luis continues to blame himself, and Marilyn remarks on how he's quite fragile, Luis responds with just like everyone else, and Marilyn moves in for a kiss.

Notes:

Last appearance of Zena Young (Danielle Brown)

·          The Best: Didier sneaking a look at Lynda's photo on Jerry's desk while Marilyn and Barbara are distracted with his terms. Kelly finally throwing in the towel on waitressing at the club in dramatic fashion, with a wet message for Gordon and his wandering hands!

Quotes: Luis gives Marilyn the immortal line of "I'm a player-manager who can't manage his players"

·          Continuity: Things have reached the point where Jerry is missing Ian Coates, and remarks to Gordon how Coates might have been a bit of an oddball but things have drifted since he went away. Gordon observes Luis needs someone to keep him in check, and Jerry replies that's exactly what Coates did and he had a great eye for a bargain.

What Was The Score?: Harchester face Middlesbrough at home, where a shot from Deane comes close to equalising but Paul Linger's goal in the 13th minute, a pass from Billy, wins the game and the unlikely Midfielder is today's Man of the Match.
