Things get even more awkward for Ray when Kitty shares her intuition that Lynda may be pregnant, and even suggests recent events have made her think she and Ray should have another baby. Eddie pulls up at the Lair hoping everyone has missed him, but is let down when the lads joke about the amount of time he spent on the bench while at QPR. Ray leaves training to discuss Eddie’s future with Lynda, but she curtails him with how she thinks they should finish their relationship. Ray spooks her by revealing Kitty already suspects she is pregnant, and asks Lynda does she really want them to finish. Lynda capitulates and is soon kissing Ray again.

Ray calls Eddie to his office where he tells him he was disappointing at QPR who have not made an offer, and he doesn't see a future for him here in the first team. Ray does however have further news - FC Jazz in the Finnish first division have made a bid, which Eddie can take or be put on the transfer list in a month’s time. Eddie is gutted and yells he is good enough for this team and speeds off in his car. Having been honest with Eddie, Ray knows he now has to be honest with himself, and goes home to Kitty where he confesses that Lynda's baby is his! Kitty immediately re-packs her things, reminding Ray he was cheating on her while she was burying her father.

Eddie gets drunk in the health club, and is spotted by Maria Kitson, reminding him they met when Danny was taken ill. Maria takes a sozzled Eddie home where she puts him to sleep on the sofa, before taking her opportunity to snoop around. In a drawer, she finds his payslip which reads fifteen-grand-a-week. Maria hangs around until Eddie wakes up, but leaves after making him supper. Kitty pays Lynda a visit where to her shock tells her she knows the baby is Ray's. Lynda awkwardly has to say she is keeping the baby but the fling with Ray is over. Eddie tells Campbell and Danny about the girl from last night, but they are more concerned with how she seems to have gone off with Eddie's £8-900 coat.

Lizzie sees Kitty is agitated and takes her into hers, where Kitty gives Lizzie the news of Ray, Lynda and their baby. After beginning a fruitless search for his mystery girl, Andy fines Eddie a week's wages for walking out of training yesterday. Eddie's game in training has improved massively, buoyed by the girl he can't get out of his mind. So much so Eddie thinks he spots Maria outside the ground, and sprints off to catch her. Eddie asks Zoe whether this girl came in, but Zoe doesn't have time to hand Eddie the coat Maria left with her before he’s off again. Lynda confronts Ray over Kitty's visit, but adds even though it's not what she wants she understands he doesn't want to split with his wife. After Ray has gone, Fletch drops by and wants to take Lynda out to dinner.

Maria continues to lurk around the Lair, and Eddie finally spots her. He is overjoyed when she agrees to go out with him, but has just started a waitressing job at The Grange so will have to wait. Ray is rattled to see Lynda going out with Fletch. Eddie arrives at The Blue Room and pays the Maitre D to let Maria off tonight to have dinner with him. Eddie laps up Maria’s stories of how this is her first job in a while, having previously worked as a secretary for an internet company, put in charge of the whole office. She also says her boyfriend left her at the same time, so has had a rough time. Fletch and Lynda reflect over their recent past, with Fletch disappointed he didn't get the England call. The subject of Luis comes up and Fletch asks is Lynda over him, to which she replies as she'll ever be.

Eddie brings Maria home, and she meets Campbell again. When Campbell gets his moment, he lets Eddie know he has already slept with Maria at Christmas, and he thinks he isn't the only footballer she's been with. Back at her house, Lynda is upset over Ray, and Fletch tries to kiss her. Lynda reacts badly, accusing Fletch of only wanting to get her into bed so he can brag about it to the dressing room. Fletch storms out and Lynda feels guilty. Maria spins it that Campbell is jealous of Eddie being with her, and that he doesn't really believe she's been with lots of footballers does he? Eddie says he doesn't, and wants Maria to stay. Kitty gives Ray an ultimatum; that if they have a chance of getting back together he cannot work for Lynda, which means he will have to give up his job.
