Suspended Dragon's manager Ian Coates meets his old friend and team mate John Black for a night at his local greyhound racing track, as John is due to move up to Harchester shortly. After placing their bets, John asks Ian if he's coming for a drink, and Ian is shocked John doesn't know he's been sober for six years, despite a relapse the other week when he saw John at his current club Leyton Orient. John remarks it must be nearly eight years since he last saw Ian, before he went to Coates is convinced he will be back in the manager's job on Monday, praying Frank gets them through Saturday in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. He talks of bringing John in as captain, replacing Jimmy Russell who has done a good job but has been riddled with injuries, and John's experience will be good encouragement for the younger players. |
