Dream Team Writer Profiles: Chris Fewtrell

 

Chris Fewtrell wrote 37 episodes, 29 co-written with his writing partner Zeddy Lawrence, in Seasons 1-3 of DT. Due to missing episodes, only 6 of these are known.

 

With Zeddy, Chris wrote episodes 5 and 6 of the sitcom “House of Windsor” and “The Great Pretender” (both 1995). Through the BBC trainee writers scheme they wrote an episode of “EastEnders” broadcast on January 4, 1996, followed by 3 episodes of “London Bridge” (1998) and 4 eps of “Byker Grove”, one of which was BAFTA-nominated for Best Children’s Drama.

 

Chris went on to write for many TV series, including “Peak Practice” (6 eps, 2001-02), 15 episodes of “Crossroads” (2001-03), 5 episodes of “The Bill” (2000-04) and two episodes each of “Family Affairs” (2004) and “Rosemary and Thyme” (2003-04). From 2016-18 he co-wrote (with his fellow Corrie writer Simon Crowther) the comedy “Home From Home”.

 

Since 2004 Chris has been a regular writer on “Coronation Street”, over the past twenty years has penned over 350 episodes, plus the 2009 spin-off DVD “Romanian Holiday”.
