Bob, Lynda Jerry, Coates, Lynda, Mica Mica |
GS: Bob Adams (Martin Beaumont) Helen Chamberlain (as herself) Harchester are 24 hours away from the semi-final with Charlton. As the cameras film at the team’s training camp in Liverpool, Luis takes a fall, and the press believe he has injured his hamstring. Inside the hotel, Lynda is passed a note from Bob Adams, and is rattled by it. At Sean's house in Harchester, Mica opens up to Julie on how she knows Sean does not love her, and how she thought the marriage would work when he saw how she'd take care of him. But it's hurting her too much now. Luis reads out the team sheet for tomorrow, and Frank is shocked to hear Luis plans to play up front with Fletch after his hamstring strain earlier. Luis provides an even bigger shock when he does the splits in front of Frank and the team, revealing it was a stunt for word to get back to Charlton and they believe he would be out! Mica tells Julie she is going up to Liverpool to tell Sean he is free, and then she is going home to Bolton. Julie decides to travel with her. Mica has at least four vodka's on the train up, and Julie is surprised to see her downing another bottle as the taxi pulls up at the hotel. Lynda catches Luis as he opens his own note from Bob, and she assures him that she will sort it and goes to meet Bob in his car. Mica continues to drink heavily at the bar as Leon brings Sean to her. Mica is slurring and swaying when Luis arrives to send Sean back upstairs, telling Mica they will find her another hotel to stay tonight. Luis puts Mica in a taxi, but as soon as he is gone she jumps out. Luis goes to check in on Sean and Fletch, but finds their room empty, for they and some of the other lads in the team are having a late night poker session. Luis uses the room phone to call Fletch's mobile, and holding for a voicemail, Mica stumbles past him into the room, again looking for Sean. Mica is more upset, and Luis tries to calm her. Mica is grateful for Luis's kindness and drunkenly tries to kiss him. When Luis tries to fight her off, Mica stumbles over and hits her face, before running out embarrassed. In the hall, she encounters Coates, Jerry and Lynda coming in after a late drinking session themselves, and the three wonder what has happened when they see the state of Mica. Lynda tends to Mica's face and tries to find out what happened, but Mica says nothing. Jerry interrogates Luis, but finds his story that the drunk Mica thought he was Sean hard to believe. Jerry comes out and tells Ian whatever's happened, nothing must affect the team especially tomorrow, but Coates knows his mission to get his job back is on again. Jerry, Lynda and Coates go to Mica and ask her outright what really happened, each putting a little more pressure on her to say the opposite, Coates wanting Luis to be guilty while Lynda that Mica was in the wrong. It becomes too much for Mica and she cries that Luis attacked her. Notes: · The Best: Lynda warning Bob if he doesn't drop the story on she and Luis's alleged affair she will finish him with the best lawyers! Bob of course isn't as morally low press-wise as the yet to arrive Hankin, and is much better suited the role of radio journalist boss as we’ve seen him since the first episode. Coates joining the boys in Jimmy Russell's room for their card game, and Jerry's arrival to tell him they've put Mica on another floor leads to Coates ending the game and taking the boys' winnings as punishment! Quotes: Jerry [to Lynda]: "We were just talking about Luis here. Do you know he is a master in the art of deception?!" · Foreshadowing: John and Leon are sharing a room, and the topic of Leon's son Clayton comes up. John reveals it just didn't happen for him and Angela with kids, but maybe in the future. Continuity: As Mica cries that everyone hates her, including her brother and he's dead, she adds Fletch has destroyed the only thing Warren cared about, his England cap. |
