Jerry's peaceful breakfast is interrupted by something unpleasant in the paper. Michael is disappointed Ann won't be able to attend his suit fitting for she's working with Scott, again. Marilyn is stunned when Jerry accuses her of selling confidential financial information to the papers, believing only they two knew about it. Lynda questions Maxine about her sudden arrival, and Maxine just says she fancied getting out of Manchester for a bit, and asks Lynda to show her the sights, including the club.

Marilyn reminds Jerry she wants to own a percentage of the club so her being the leak wouldn't make sense. Marilyn tells him she is taking the rest of the day off to remind Jerry how he had to cope alone before she arrived. Maxine wants to catch sight of the “sexy footballers”, and Lynda asks what happened to the boyfriend she was supposed to have. Maxine says life soured with the DJ after they were always having to run from the bailiffs, and her story to their mother about a good job wasn't true.

Gordon lays into Wes during training, that he is too slow, while Ray advises Gordon that Wes is tired. When Wes makes a move to avoid kicking Simon Coggan when hold of the ball, Gordon explodes and calls Wes a coward, to which Scott defends him. Afterwards, the lads agree the situation with Gordon cannot go on, and Ray is appointed to speak to the chairman. Lynda takes exception to Maxine's view that if Lynda can sit around all day doing nothing while Jerry owns a club then why can't she? Lynda is embarrassed when Maxine overly flirts with Didier.

Ray puts it to Gordon that unless he lets him coach until this thing blows over, he could be the first manager to have his whole team walk out. Kelly and Wes share a kiss. Marilyn enjoys a game of pool with Ray, but when Kitty phones him, she decides to call it a night. After a chat with Jerry, Gordon learns how Marilyn walked out annoyed after Jerry accused her of selling stories to the press. Gordon uses this story to phone his contact and tell him Marilyn was sleeping with Luis.

Notes:

The Best: Wes seeing red and going to swing for Gordon, but instead catches him with his foot and Gordon falls flat on his face. Ray and Marilyn have great chemistry as he gives her tips on playing pool.

·          Quotes: Kelly christening Gallagher “Gordon the Gopher”

Foreshadowing: Marilyn remarks how Jerry could have spilled details to one of his drinking buddies for everyone knows the club is in trouble financially.

·          Continuity: Kelly attempts to console Wes over his incident with Gordon, saying it could lead to a better role like when she dumped an ice bucket over him and went to work for Ann.

Additional Info: Michael and Ann’s wedding is in less than three weeks time. Lynda recalls Maxine hasn't seen her in over a year and she didn't visit her in hospital.

·          Soundtrack: Finley Quaye: “Even After All”,  Jennifer Lopez: “Waiting For Tonight”
