Jerry Lynda, Marilyn Didier, Ray Ray, Bob |
GS: Bob Adams (Martin Beaumont) Jack Fellows (Jonathan Oliver) The bank call a meeting with Jerry and Marilyn to discuss the current position of the club's loans. Wes sits up in bed, and Ray tells him the consultant believes it will be six to eight weeks before he is running again. Wes is gutted to learn he could miss the rest of the season. Darren Eastleigh the branch manager makes it clear to Jerry and Marilyn that the club is going to need further investment to avoid administration. Billy gets a lift into the club having been staying with Ann and Scott, and says he'd not be able to get a car like Scott’s with the money he's on. Scott encourages Billy to get a new contract, to tell the club he won't renew and that will make them listen. Billy approaches Ray, but he first reminds Bill he is not only his coach, but the bigger pay-packets the other England Under 21's were on were because they were with Arsenal and Leeds. Jerry is against Marilyn bringing in a new investor to his club, convinced they will be saved by winning the UEFA Cup. Lynda demands to know why she is being locked in her room, and Maxine responds she was apparently delirious and she and Jerry were worried she would sleepwalk. At a club meeting, Jerry assures the board there will be substantial funds coming in with the expected Parma win and the due insurance from the loss of the players in the air crash. While Maxine is booking a trim, Lynda makes another escape this time in the car. Jerry is taken to task by Jack Fellows about the further costs on top of the stadium going over budget, like the signing of Didier and the hiring of Gordon. When Jerry adds most of that was covered by the selling of Michael to Charlton, Jack states which came at a loss of more than £2M pounds. Jerry dodges the question of why one of his own companies was paid half a million pounds by Lynda storming into the boardroom and in front of everyone calls Jerry a murderer! Lynda and Marilyn go into the ladies where Lynda tells Marilyn that Jerry was behind the shooting, wanting to get Luis for their affair. Ray discusses formation with the team, and doesn't take too kindly when Didier forgets he is currently the manager or Scott potentially seeing him as a pushover compared to Gordon. Maxine barges in accusing Marilyn of upsetting her sister again, before manhandling Lynda away. Ray gives an interview with Bob Adams as the team board the coach, and snaps when Bob compares him with Brian Kidd at Blackburn, accusing him of undermining his managerial skills. Jack tells Marilyn he is worried that what happened at Crystal Palace could happen here. Lynda has had enough of Maxine working against her and tells her it’s time she left, but Maxine refuses, saying only when Jerry tells her to. When Jerry accuses her of panicking when she suggests an investor once more, Marilyn phones an old contact and asks whether they'd like to take over a football club with her. Ray threatening Bob, just short of he reminding DT’s current longest-appearing-character what happened to the last journo (Hankin) that crossed him. The coach bringing the team outside Wes's hospital room as they head off to Italy, and they calling up to see him. Quotes: Jerry’s response to the bank’s Lisa Evans who handles the club’s accounts everyday: “She doesn't look old enough to handle her own pocket money!” · Foreshadowing: See next episode for just who Marilyn will introduce to the club (and series) as her mystery investment contact! Continuity: Billy remarks to Scott and Ann re Wes that he was beginning to think he was a jinx on his mates i.e. Leon. The topic of the plane crash continues with Jerry referring to the event while overlooking a club portrait of Sean, while Jack Fellows talks of how the insurance for the killed players could take years. · Additional Info: The actor playing Darren Eastleigh the new branch manager is not credited, despite having several lines of dialogue. Soundtrack: Sixpence Non The Richer: "Kiss Me" · Behind The Scenes: Jerry wants to know where the bank’s Mr. (Ian) Ridley is and is told he took early retirement last month.
