GS: James Carson-Brandt (Andrew Hall) Mr Justice
Lawson (Peter Harlowe) Ms Hammond
(Rachel Fielding) Court Clerk (Dickon Edwards) Policeman (Mark Lawrence) Following Victoria's allegations, Fletch's bail is revoked. Victoria hands over twenty-five thousand to the
police, saying Fletch used this to pay her off while Jamie planted
himself at the clinic to get at her. Fletch does his best to keep Jamie and Tash out of it,
stating Victoria blackmailed him. Tash and Jamie are let go as enquiries
continue, and find common ground to be civil for the first time since the
party. When Fletch learns that Victoria is claiming she was only paid
£25K, he says the fact that she hasn't mentioned the other seventy-five
grand proves she is lying. James thinks
Fletch should now address the court. Claudia, seeing Lynda feel
helpless at Fletch's situation, decides to launch a campaign for the team and
fans to put their money together for Fletch's bail, and allow him to play the
UEFA home leg against Parma. Victoria is recalled to the witness box where
Brandt refers to her own past including sleeping with Fletch to receive
financial gain from Prash, and leaking the story of Lynda's pregnancy
contributing to her miscarriage. Fletch next addresses the court, and talks
of how he locked himself in the dressing room toilets after being taken off,
not emerging until the lads were celebrating in the Players' Lounge. Fletch is granted bail and
arrives at the club with a police escort. Lynda has plans of her own while
the game is going on tonight, and hides a tape recorder on herself. Lynda
attempts to get Victoria to admit not only that she lied about seeing Fletch
in Prash’s office, but also talk about the further seventy-five grand
she took. Victoria surprises Lynda when she reveals that she too is wearing a
recording device, hers on behalf of the police, and all Lynda can do is call
Victoria a bitch. With his verdict due tomorrow, Lynda watches Fletch led
away back to prison and cries that she is sorry this is happening to him. In court, Ms Hammond pulls apart Fletch's story that he was locked inside the toilet during
the remainder of the match and for all of the dressing room celebrations.
When she cross examines that he must have put his tracksuit on and gone into
Prash's office, where he got the blood on him, Fletch is pushed into a corner
and has to admit that yes he did go in Prash's office, but didn't kill him.
Everyone knows this is highly damaging for Fletch's credibility, and chances
of being found not guilty. Victoria susses Lynda and Fletch have slept
together, and goads Lynda on how she shouldn't wait for Fletch, as with a
twenty-five year sentence she will be fifty-five by the time he is released -
far too old for the children she wanted. In his summing up, Brandt
points out that yes Fletch was in the deceased's office, but so was Ms
Baptiste and she isn't on trial. Fletch's friends gather outside and are
shocked when they hear court is being called back, with James acknowledging
to Lynda that for it to happen this fast is unusual. The jury return and the
foreman announces they have found Fletch guilty of Prash's murder. Fletch
cannot take it in, and Lynda rises to her feet above the commotion to confess
it was in fact she who killed Prash, and all she can do is repeatedly say
sorry to Fletch. Notes: Temporary departure of Victoria
Baptiste (Sarah Matravers) until 5.28 Mind Games. The Best: Stevie coming off
injured and in a touching moment hands Fletch the captain’s armband. At
full time, Fletch leaves the pitch fighting back the tears, for what everyone
knows could be the last time. Continuity: Victoria, looking forward to Fletch going down, refers to Lynda being no
saint either; marrying for money (Jerry), adultery (Luis), sleeping with her
friend's husband (Ray). Lynda throws back Victoria ruined her husband's
football career and slept with four or five players in his team, including
Fletch and Prash at the same time. What Was The
Score?: The 3rd Round UEFA Cup game
against Parma in Italy finished 0-0. The Second Leg played at the Lair sees
Boghossian score and Harchester needing two goals to proceed. Peggsy scores his
first goal for the club in the second half, while a goal from Fletch takes
Harchester through to the next round of the UEFA Cup. Soundtrack: Rob Dougan: "Clubbed To
