The police are investigating the threats against Claudia left at Nikki's house, when another set of police show up to inform Nikki of Gary's accident. He is unconscious and Nikki is shocked to be told how amphetamines were found in his system. Lynda assures Nikki the club will give Gary all the support he needs. Stevie yells at Danny in front of the team for not being with Peggsy when he had his accident. Danny lets Fletch know he should be feeling guilty too, over using Peggsy in his attempts to get at Mrs Block. Peggsy wakes up, and during tests with the doctor appears to only have feeling in one of his feet, so will need to have a scan. Alone in the house, Claudia tries to relax in a bath, but noises from outside lead to her squashing a hand in the door. It turns out to be Stevie, innocently coming to pick up supplies for Peggsy.

Having moved out of her house, Dawn brings her suitcases to an irritated Fletch, who tells Dawn they were only having fun so maybe it's time they called it a day. Lynda tasks Claudia with doing the inventory for the Spears house at The Barrons. Fletch finds the courage to finally see Peggsy, where Gary cries that he might be paralysed… and has no insurance. The doctor informs Peggsy of his test results, of how he damaged two vertebrae when he fell into the pool, causing a spinal injury. The paralysis to his leg is temporary, and he will walk again but only after intensive physiotherapy. As for the football, the doctor doubts he will ever be able to play professionally again. Peggsy is gutted.

Claudia is inside the Spears house when she comes across a folder which contains print outs of her marketing campaign used as the hate mail. Dawn suddenly appears before her and responds she wondered where she'd left those! Claudia is now no longer scared and sees Dawn's vendetta as a joke, laughing mockingly until Dawn slaps her. Claudia hits Dawn back and is worried she's hurt her. Dawn cries that David’s lawyers have told her to stop trying to contact him, and she now has no job or home. Lynda visits Gary where he takes responsibility for taking the drugs, and for not sorting his own insurance. Lynda sits before the board who couldn’t look more grumpy if they tried and makes a plea that they allow a percentage of the insurance money to go to Peggsy.

Dawn locks herself in the bathroom and Claudia can hear her opening tablets. When Claudia cannot prize Dawn out, she tells her she will call the police unless she opens the door. Claudia goes downstairs to get her phone, and turns round to be hit with a wooden stool swung by Dawn. Lynda has to break the news to Nikki that the board decided against allowing any insurance money to go to Gary. Lynda planned to pay Fletch compensation for his time in prison, but Fletch suggests he will match her amount if they pay their money to the club, meaning it will all go to Peggsy.

Lynda wanders where Claudia has gotten to, and Dawn rocks up to hand her the house keys. Dawn remarks she hadn't seen her husband's mistress at the house. Lynda tells Dawn she is sorry things didn't work out for her in Harchester. Fletch gives Peggsy the cheque, and Gary talks of how his parents are coming over to take him with them to Spain to recover. Lynda tries to phone Claudia, but only gets her voicemail. Claudia's phone rings out in the empty-looking Spears house.
