GS: Andy Gray (as himself) Anouk Belanov (Noemie Kocher) Olivia Alexander (Deborah Olaifa) Zak Alexander (Shaun Stamp) Laura Buchanan (Jayne McKenna) Richard Keys (as himself) After a home loss to Bolton, Andy Gray having watched the game at The Lair gives his assertion that making Monday, the club's top goalscorer last season, the manager is where the team have gone wrong. Lynda takes his words in, and approaches Andy to ask whether he'd be interested in coming in with the role of Director of Football. She talks of how the CPS are going to decide what she will be charged with, and wants to see the club in safe hands before she inevitably goes to prison. Linton tells Nikki about how his children, Zak and Olivia are coming to see him for the first time in Harchester. Sam and Nikki discuss Claudia's whereabouts, with Nikki saying she'd received text messages from Claudia in London, even though the trip was unexpected. Lynda gets news of how a new CPS lawyer has been appointed to her case, and is pushing for a murder charge which would carry a life sentence. The team question Andy Gray's presence on the sidelines as they train, and Monday believes he is there to make a documentary. Nikki goes to Lynda with how Claudia hasn't taken any of her things to London, and Lynda agrees if she misses the FA Cup game on Saturday they will do something. Monday arrives home to find Andrei's wife Anouk has arrived from Romania, while Stacey, another girl Andrei picked up last night is still in the house! Lynda discovers Claudia's message didn't come from her phone, and is alarmed when phoning the number and hears Fletch's voicemail at the other end. Fletch tells her he lost his phone a week ago. Talking outside, Lynda can smell gas, but brushes it off to ask Sandra to call the gas board. Zak and Olivia Alexander arrive and Nikki is surprised to see Zak and Stevie know each other so well. Stevie explains it is from his time at Charlton. Monday and Anouk get talking and she explains she is French and met Andrei when he was playing at Steaua Bucharest. Linton and Nikki bring the kids to his new house, but from outside they can smell the gas. Linton discovers the fire was left leaking gas, and they leave the doors and windows open… though Claudia remains undiscovered inside. Stevie pleads with Linton that if he has to get back at him not to use Nikki, but Linton believes he is in with a shot with her. Olivia finds Claudia’s phone and keeps it on her. Lynda is forced to come clean with Monday that Andy is not here to film a documentary. Monday accuses Lynda of bringing in someone over his head because they don't think he can do the job. Olivia wants to call her imaginary friend, and Nikki is shown the mobile phone which she recognises as Claudia's. Lynda is brought to the house, where they realise Dawn was Claudia's stalker, and with the gas left on know she must be somewhere in the house. Monday shows Andy racist hate mail he received, and admits being manager is not what he wants, having taken over the role as a favour to Lynda. Andy wants to work with Monday, as another Director of Football might want to replace him altogether. Claudia is discovered in the room under the stairs, and is rushed to hospital as a worried Lynda and Nikki watch on. Andrei accuses Monday of thinking he can sleep with his players' wives just because he is their manager. Later Monday can hear Andrei getting aggressive until he has to check Anouk is all right. Sam sits by Claudia's bedside, praying his daughter will pull through. Sam is angry with Lynda for not filling him in on Claudia having a stalker. Monday is appalled to learn Andrei will not pay Anouk twelve-thousand pounds for she and their son, when he makes twenty-five grand in a week's salary. When Sam feels he has let Claudia down, Nikki assures him that she wants to be just like him in business. Andrei is forced to comply when Monday threatens to inform Paul Hankin about his wife beating, unless he sets up an account to pay Anouk monthly. Sam sits talking to Claudia and tells her she is the most important thing in his life. Notes: The Best: Nikki’s S Club 7 bedtime story for Olivia: “Rachel, Bradley, Paul, Tina, Hannah, Jon and Jo sang every song they’d ever recorded in the greatest most exciting night of their lives. So it all ended happily after all”. Anouk, the former nurse, not being anything like an expected wife of Andrei’s. Additional Info: When Stevie asks after Gary, Nikki mentions he is starting physio at Stoke Mandeville next week. What Was The Score?: Bolton at the Lair; Harchester are two goals down, and in one minute of stoppage time Kevin Nolan scores the third. Charlton in the FA Cup Fifth Round; a pass from Danny sees Monday score. Soundtrack: The Hives: "Hate to Say I Told You So", The Prodigy: "Kilos", Fatboy Slim: "Right Here Right Now" Behind The Scenes: Andy Gray’s on-screen role as Harchester’s Director of Football is quietly curtailed in the following episode with Sam Irving’s appointment of PSG’s Patrick Doyle as the club’s new permanent manager. In reality, it seems likely Gray’s role was intended as with Ron Atkinson’s two episode managerial stint from #1.1 to always be a short guest appearance. |
