GS: Joe Rawsthorne (Andy Moore) Gemma McKenzie (Georgina Redhead) Kath Rawsthorne (Heather Bleasdale) Chris Kamara (as himself) Danny is featured in a Sky Sports piece that will also involve his dad Joe. When Danny sees Joe is drinking before the interview, he is annoyed his dad just couldn't stay off the booze for this, which leads to Joe revealing he is not Danny's father, which makes Danny about as Irish as Monday Bandele! Joe Rawsthorne is completely blotto in the interview, and reeling from his earlier words, Danny takes a question about choosing to play for Ireland the wrong way, with how Sven had his chance and at least Mick McCarthy recognises talent. Joe later claims what he said wasn't true and down to him being drunk, but Danny is rattled. Danny starts drinking and cries to Taylor over what Joe told him. Taylor says when Danny sobers up he will take him to Stockport to ask his mom the truth. Nikki gets an unexpected call saying a buyer has come through for her house. All it takes is for Danny to ask his mom why she never told him for her to know exactly what he means. Kath Rawsthorne explains Joe was away on the oil rigs and she was lonely, but Danny can't meet his real father Peter because he is now dead. She never told Peter about Danny as they were both married, and confirms he definitely wasn't Irish but a Yorkshire man, which leaves Danny even more disillusioned about his place in the Ireland squad. Danny wants to pull out of the Ireland/Nigeria game, but Taylor warns him he's already burnt his bridges with the England side and to reveal the truth would finish him in Ireland too. Nikki and Claudia have fun on what they think will be their last night in the house before it is sold, but Linton again is hostile to Claudia’s influence. Linton continues to be accusatory with Nikki, first that she would laugh about him with Claudia, and for behaving like "a little whore" around Stevie, before grabbing Nikki and forcing her hand towards the steaming kettle. The next morning, Nikki has a bandaged hand and Linton pleads forgiveness. Claudia catches sight of Nikki's bandage and isn't convinced when Nikki claims she burnt it herself. Claudia goes to Stevie, who recognises this as exactly what happened to Linton's wife. Stevie confronts Linton with how he thought he deserved a second chance after losing Michael, but he is still the same nasty piece of work he always was, and is to stay away from Nikki. When Linton taunts what if he doesn't, Stevie punches him in the face. When Danny comes to the decision that he won't play in the Irish side, Taylor organises a meet with Joe, who tells Danny he always loved him as his real son, which means he is still worthy enough to play on the Ireland team. Danny has to admit he doesn't want any other father, and agrees to play. Nikki feels she was really taken in by Linton, and cries to Stevie that she gave up her job and home of three years. Stevie surprises her with the keys she gave to the estate agent, and realises he is the buyer and has saved her house. After Danny and Monday have left in a taxi for the friendly, Joe meets Taylor and hands over a recording of he and Danny's chat, discussing he not being of Irish decent. Taylor exchanges a brown envelope of money with Joe.
