Liam is awarded Man of the Match for the West Ham game, and with the other results in, Jimmy announces that the team are guaranteed a top four finish, and thus are in the Champions League for next season. To Liam and Gemma’s surprise, Jimmy says he is OK with them seeing each other, as Gemma's happiness is the most important thing to him. Terry turns up at training with a tray of champagne and the press in tow, and congratulates the team on reaching the Champions League. Jimmy takes the opportunity to inform the press that Liam and Gemma are in a relationship and he is fine with it. Tony puts the idea into Jason’s head about getting his contract sorted for next season, this time raising his pay to at least £25K, with a fragrance sponsorship and a magazine deal lined up in time for the wedding. Jason goes into the gents at Studs, and ends up receiving a barrage from Fletch when he reappears to him. Fletch picks Jason apart on how he doesn't have the talent to stay for next season, and the only real talent he's got is for lying i.e. Emma and J.F's death. Jimmy hauls Jason into his office over Tony's demands for his new contract, and warns Jason the club will not be held to ransom by someone who would still be sitting in the stands if it wasn't for him.

When Jason sees the starting eleven for Saturday's game which is the same as the West Ham game, and sets about getting his place back. Tony drags Jason off to the shooting of his sponsorship deal with Odourono deodorant. Jimmy tells Liam the lads are showing signs of only caring for their Champions League status, when they should still be focusing on winning the Premiership. The team make a joke out of Jason's deodorant commercial at training, but Jimmy fails to see the funny side, and once again vents his frustrations at the team's apparent lack of maturity on Jason, sending him off the pitch. Jimmy blames Liam for the team's behaviour, and it seems his relationship with Gemma is affecting him more than he's letting on. Liam returns home to find Gemma unpacking her various party dresses, and loses it with her when she doesn't understand the pressure he is under as captain right now. Jason cannot concentrate on the second day shoot of his sponsorship, and walks out, yelling at Tony about how he was kicked out of training and wants to get his place back in the team. Jason goes into the dressing room to clear his head and Fletch reappears to him. Fletch tells Jason he may as well get himself back up there and be a professional gimmick, as he'll be needing all the money he can get for when his contract isn't renewed.

That night Jason joins the team in Studs where he is determined to stay fresh for the morning to impress Jimmy. That doesn't last long however, and soon Miguel and co have got Jason plastered, and Sully watches as those around capture Jason's antics on their phones. Upon leaving, the group encounter the awaiting press, and Jason is fired up and ready to hit back, giving the photographers their money shot. Jimmy is furious the next morning, this time with a real reason to take it out on Jason. In frustration, he tells the team they’re going back to basics until they learn how to behave. This includes cleaning their own boots after training. Liam has had enough and goes to Jimmy in his office, stating he will do his job as captain and earn the team's respect again, which Jimmy appreciates. When Jason lets slip to an awaiting pack of journalists that he hasn't yet received his contract for next season and fears he won't, Terry calls a meeting between he and Tony. Tony stands up for Jason and points out how it appears he has been made a scapegoat for the team's behaviour, when he is a valuable member of the squad. Jason admits to Terry that whilst he has made mistakes he is committed to the team, and won't let him down which is all Terry wants to hear.

Liam takes Gemma aside and breaks the news that he can't continue seeing her and maintain the importance of his job as captain at the same time, when they are so close to winning something special. Gemma is deeply hurt that Liam has chosen football over her, and reminds him this has been happening to her for the last seventeen years with her dad. Gemma says she hopes both Liam and her father make history together. Jason gets a call from Jimmy and meets with him in the boardroom, where at first the Gaffer comes across as scarily calm. The next thing he turns on Jason and accuses him of whining to Tony and his new friend the chairman when Jimmy doesn't give him his own way. Jimmy won’t listen when Jason tries to tell him it was Terry who approached him, and yells he has no respect when there are hundreds of kids out there who would give anything to be in his place, and how he isn't going to blow this for the rest of the team. When Jason finally gets away from Jimmy's tirade, he is shaking and it looks set to continue to haunt him when Danny emerges from one of the offices having recorded the attack on his phone. Harchester.net here comes a new scoop!
