Dream Team Writer Profiles: Alex Ferguson

Alex Ferguson (also Alex Y. Ferguson) wrote 2 episodes of DT during Season 4.

Alongside his television and film writing, Alex’s theatre, radio and book publishing is vast. In TV, he wrote the adaptation of the tenth series’ seventh episode of "Ruth Rendell Mysteries" (1997) and also on "Wycliffe". His film work includes the screenplay, story and dialogue of the 2016 film "Bliss!" (originally a play with his twelve years leading young people’s theatre company Bold As Brass) and was one of the writers on "Train Station" (2015).

His time with BAB saw his team perform the play "Do You See What I See?" at the West End's Jermyn Street Theatre. Alex's authoring of books debuted with the tale of his "part-real part-mythical" Uncle Freddie, in "Uncle Freddie: The Pineapple King of Jarrow & other stories". The acclaim of which the story achieved saw Radio 4 develop Freddie into six series of a play between 1990-2000. In 2018 My Uncle Freddie was staged at the Customs House Theatre in South Shields.

Further theatre has included four years with Corin and Vanessa Redgrave's Moving Theatre and the productions "Walpamur & Cardboard", "The Flag" and "Casement". While Alex's books have now surpassed over twenty titles, more details can be found here.
