Dream Team Writer Profiles: Billy Hamon

Billy Hamon wrote 2 episodes of DT in Season 3.

In his career as an actor, in his teens Hamon kicked off with "Smugglers' Cove" (6 eps, 1963) and "Mike" (13 eps, 1964), before Planchet in a 1966-67 production of "The Three Musketeers" (8 eps). Other prominent roles followed, with Des in classic comedy "Please Sir!" (12 eps, 1971-72) and, becoming a bit of a regular face at ATV Midlands, gang leader Jacky in "The Siege of Golden Hill" (18 eps, 1975-76). After "Crossroads" at now Central (1985), his last screen credit was an episode of "The Bill" in 1989.

Billy's writing career was ongoing alongside his acting, and from the mid-70's onwards for more ATV, he was penning scripts for (again, classic) children's series "Pipkins", which he also starred in as The Genie. More TV writing followed with "EastEnders" (4 eps 1985-87, and another 4 in 1996), "Boon" (2 eps, 1987), "Eurocops" (3 eps, 1988-90), "Casualty" (5 eps, 1987 & 1994-96), and "Soldier, Soldier" (3 eps, 1992-93 & 1997).

He was also awarded 1985's Most Promising Playwright Theatre Award by The London Evening Standard for The Grafters.
