Karren Brady is the Managing Director of Birmingham City F.C during Harchester United's two visits
to St Andrews; the 98-99 FA Cup Quarter Final Replay and four years
later, for the two clubs' first meeting in the League for twenty years.
Appointed to her role in 1993 at aged twenty-three, she is seen as an
inspiration to Harchester's own businesswomen, MD Marilyn Harwood, PR owner Ann Patterson and later owner/chief exec Lynda Block.
After a 1-1
draw at Addison Road, the FA Cup Replay takes place at St Andrews where Karren gets to experience all of Jerry Block's wit and humour,
but a Paul Furlong goal isn't enough to keep them in the competition as Harchester put in two goals. Harchester
are on a losing streak when they are back in 2002-03 and Karren
meets current chairman Phil Wallis. Goals from Paul Devlin and Damien Johnson
give the Blues a 2-0 home win, though Karren is
sympathetic to Phil for his club's current status.
