GS: Dave Plumber (Dean Bardini) Ray watches training, and questions Luis's decision to have Michael as team captain, believing they have both a captain and central defender that looks unsettled. Ray tells Luis he will have to take the boys out to bond with them, without their gaffer. Marilyn is not impressed when Jerry offers her 120K a year, for she wants £200K. Marilyn points out it's not just the salary, she wants shares in Block Enterprises. Jerry puts it to her that she'd be better with shares in Harchester United, for in two years time if he gets out of this nightmare, Jerry will be floating the club. Marilyn signs and drops her price to £180K. Jerry says they and Lynda should go out for dinner to celebrate, and Marilyn requests bringing Luis along so as not to go over his head. Ray introduces himself to the team during formation, and says he’ll guide them through the next three and a half weeks. He knows they've been dealt a blow with the shooting at Wembley and the crash, but when he leaves them it won't be because they're out of Europe, but because they won't be needing him anymore. The boys are pleasantly surprised when Ray tells them he is taking them bowling. Marilyn wants to indulge in the restaurants Glasgow has to offer after the game, asking Luis to get a later flight and sort a separate hotel with her. Luis is flattered but is stunned when Lynda rocks up with Jerry catching he and Marilyn looking cosy. As a glum Billy goes to bowl, Ray remarks to Michael how he doesn't seem the same Billy from Liverpool schoolboys. Michael says it's affected him more than anyone in the team. Ray is curious when Dave shows up and Wes goes off for a drink with him. Wes tells Dave that he is being pushed to the limit by Scott's mouth, and Dave consoles him that he is worth five times what Scott is ( Billy tries to make a getaway saying he just doesn't feel like having a laugh right now, but Ray intercepts him, adding he won't be feeling right for a long time, but his team mates are going to be needing him over these next important games. This encourages Billy and he returns to the boys. The topic comes up on how the team are going to travel to the Rangers game, Ray stating they would normally fly but with the circumstances they would be more than happy to take the train. Making a collective decision, the boys chose to get back on the horse again and fly, with Billy agreeing even though he will be out suspended for the game. At their miserable dinner where Lynda and Luis have been seated next to each other, Marilyn questions Luis about his heartbreaker reputation that Jerry has filled her in on! This makes Lynda even more uncomfortable and she asks Jerry to take her home, though once out of earshot questions Jerry as to whether he knew Luis would be here tonight, which he obviously denies to her. Notes: The Best: All of the bowling alley scenes. An out of the ordinary location for the team to socialise. Ray, after Wes’s squaring up to Scott, coming out of the cubicle and giving the rattled Scott a smug look. · Quotes: Scott [to Ray]: "…After the second UEFA leg, is that when you bail out is it? After we get knocked out of Europe" Ray: "No, that's when I go back to my sixty cows, seventy-two sheep, twenty-seven chickens, three dogs, two cats and pregnant wife.” Additional Info: Marilyn tells Jerry she knows Colin Hutchinson at Chelsea is on a quarter of a million salary-wise. Ray tells the team he'll be with them until 11th November, covering the league games against Spurs, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa, the Worthington Cup game against Birmingham, and the two UEFA games against Glasgow Rangers. · Soundtrack: The Wonder Stuff: "Unbearable" |
