Lynda is determined to get to the bottom of what Maxine said last night, but she is too hungover to discuss it. Ann has put her wedding dress on, but tells Kelly she can't go through with this. Marilyn shows Ray how they will record Gordon, telling him the only way they will convince Jerry is if he's caught selling a story on the chairman's wife. Kelly can't understand how it has taken Ann to reach her wedding day to realise she doesn't love Michael.

Ann knows she has to get it over with, and goes to the club to tell all to Michael, sitting in the stands watching as he trains with the team. Michael sits with Ann, where to his shock she says she can't marry him - as she spent last night with someone else! Michael marches to the dressing room where he launches himself at Scott, and has to be held back by his team mates. Scott calmly explains that they never meant to hurt him but Michael won't accept that and wants to kill Scott for ruining his marriage.

The lads stand by Michael and all join him when he wants to go on a bender with everything that's been bought and paid for. Kelly blames Scott for this but Ann says she was marrying Michael for all the wrong reasons. In the ladies Lynda gets rough with Maxine when she continues to stall her on what Jerry said. When Maxine eventually repeats what she heard, Lynda lets it sink in. Marilyn gives Gordon the story which he appears to lap up. Scott asks Ann where do they stand, and she tells him she needs time to get over today.

Michael can't come to terms with Ann's decision, and Ray consoles him that it would have eventually been someone else if not Scott. As expected, Gordon gets on the phone to Hankin with the story of Didier and Lynda. Michael makes a speech to the room, telling the lads he is glad they had the reception together. He lists the good times he's had playing with them, but closes with how what's happened he won't be able to stay at the club, and as soon as he can, he'll be leaving Harchester.
