Dream Team Director Profiles: Bob Tomson

 

Bob Tomson directed 12 episodes of DT between Seasons 2-4. He was also co-producer of Season 4 with Rod Brown.

 

Writing an episode of iconic police serial "Z Cars" early in his career (1977), by the late 90's his TV directing career was in full swing. Bob did 15 episodes of "Brookside" in 1997-98, followed by "Hero to Zero" (6 episodes, 2000), "Family Affairs" (5 eps, 2002), "Night & Day" (2 eps, 2002), "Heartbeat" (3 eps, 2003), "The Bill" (5 eps, 2004) and "Father Brown" (2 eps, 2017).

 

He has had further long stints directing soaps, including "Emmerdale" for 12 episodes (2020-22), "Fair City" for another 12 episodes (2017-22), and across twenty-two years, directing 66 episodes of "Doctors" (2002-24).

 

Bob has also seen great success as a theatre director, with tours both UK and international and overseeing productions on the West End and Broadway.
