Scott Gordon, Lynda Ann, Didier Lynda, Luis |
GS: Barbara Finch (Janet Pate)
Luis wakes up to Marilyn next to him, and while she feels wonderful he can't make his excuses to leave quick enough. Ann explains to Kelly with Michael leaving they've got several blank press engagements that could now be filled by Eddie. Lynda catches Marilyn leaving Luis's room and runs away distressed. Didier and Barbara pull up outside the club to be greeted by Ray, while Scott watches from the youth team coach. Ray informs Scott he is due back with the first team now but Luis must have forgotten to tell him. Didier shakes Scott's hand and says he's looking forward to playing with him. Kelly asks Ann about the house situation, and Ann says they were supposed to be moving in this week but she can't face it, and isn't entirely sure where she stands with Michael anymore. Luis discovers Lynda is going back to Jerry, and she accuses him of only taking Marilyn to his room when she wouldn't come. Lynda doesn't believe Luis sleeping with Marilyn was a one-night-stand, and when he can't deny that it was only the once, Lynda reacts badly and forces Luis out of her room. Scott waits in the dressing room for the lads to come in, but they act as if he isn't there, discussing Michael leaving without saying goodbye. Wes remarks on how Michael was a good man, and Billy adds he was also a good team player, making sure Scott hears him. Scott waits until Luis comes into the room to make a speech to the team about how he's sorry he did a runner and should have stuck it out here. Jerry oversees Didier's press call without Luis present, and he angrily tells Marilyn he better have a good explanation for not being here. Luis is again knocking on Lynda's Grange room door, only to be told by a chambermaid that she checked out a few minutes ago. Ann is left chasing after Barbara when the agent won't stop to hear Ann's plans for Didier's PR. Barbara accepts most of Ann's suggestions, believing Didier would enjoy the nude shots for Cosmopolitan, and tells Ann the job is hers. Didier joins the lads in training, telling them he is officially a Harchester player now. Lynda returns to the house to find Gordon all settled in, and immediately regrets coming home. As the team give Didier his initiation, Scott goes to Ray in his office. Ray doesn't take kindly to Scott asking when the team will start talking to him again, reminding him he thought he was better than the team. Scott says Ray knows the team is better with him in it, especially with Didier here now. Ann meets Didier, and after he's apologised for how he was bought to replace Michael, she notices he is preoccupied with something else. When Kelly talks to Eddie about the charity fashion show tomorrow to get his face in all the papers, Eddie says he can't take her seriously as the last time he saw her she was wearing a French maid's outfit and pouring coffee. Ann gets it out of Didier when he takes off his hat to show a shaven 'H' for Harchester in the back of his head. Luis goes to Lynda at the Block’s, and tells her Marilyn meant nothing to him and he knows Lynda still loves him as he does her. Luis asks Lynda to pack her things and come with him now, but the sight of Jerry in the doorway having heard everything leads Lynda into telling Luis she doesn't love him. Notes: The Best: Didier’s mystery initiation, to him sporting a woollen hat and doing his best to hide the results from Ann. Barbara’s reaction would have been priceless so it’s a shame we were never shown that. Gordon with his feet under the table at the Block's home, to Lynda and then Luis’s shock at finding him there. · Quotes: Gordon lets Lynda in on how he rates she and Jerry’s marriage: "There's certain couples who've got to stay together. John and Yoko, Romeo and Juliet [stumbles] …people like that!". Additional Info: Terry Skiverton, seen for the first couple of months this season as Luis’s assistant, has returned to coach the youth team presumably since Ray’s appointment, as when he was Frank Patcham’s assistant there in Season 2. · Soundtrack: Wonder Stuff: “Don’t Let Me Down Gently”, James: “I Know What I’m Here For” |
