It’s Fourth Round Day and Harchester are facing Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Midlands Derby. Marilyn arrives to be met with the Scott story, titled “Lucas in Laundry Sex Romp Shame” having been leaked to the press, but Jerry leaves her to handle it as he is too depressed to get out of bed. Scott, with two black eyes, is at the police station looking for Eddie. Gordon shows Scott the paper, where he is irked how the story paints him as a villain who seduced and then treated Gina badly. Eddie is released and Gordon takes them to the club, where they are set to face Marilyn's wrath. Gordon plays it to Marilyn that Ann is responsible for the story leaking to the press, as Eddie, who did beat up Scott according to Gordon, comes out of this smelling of roses.

The physio rules Scott out for today's game, to Gordon's anguish. Councillor Lal rocks up at reception stating he will not leave until he has seen Jerry. Marilyn flames first Scott over Gina's humiliation, and then Eddie over his thuggery. Scott defends Eddie over how it wasn't him, and Eddie finally chimes in that it was his brothers. Marilyn suspends Scott, with the sweetener that it's only until his ribs have healed, while warns Eddie his brothers are banned from the club, and he better play his best out there today! At training, Ray hands Billy a message, and he is ecstatic to learn he has been selected for the England U21's!

Marilyn tells Ann she's to be at a press conference with Scott and Eddie tomorrow, and if she discovers she had anything to do with this, will make sure Ann never sets foot in the club again. When Ray gets a chance to address the lads before kick-off about being patient, he is consistently interrupted by Gordon about taking the game by the scruff of the neck! As Scott watches the first half in his flat, Ann turns up and wants to know where he's taking this story about Eddie and his injuries. Scott explains the situation and Ann learns for the first time that it wasn't Eddie who beat up Scott. Knowing Ann is looking after Eddie, Scott asks could she help him with his public image. Ann says she'll start by arranging appearances for him at local schools.

Lal turns up at the Block's and demands Jerry retract his statement, though Jerry plays with him that he's paid him a lot of money over this last year. Lal protests that his bung was never five-hundred-thousand-pounds, and lunges at Jerry, trying to throttle him while Lynda phones the police. Didier is yellow carded for pushing Akinbiyi. Lal is carted off by two officers, while Jerry makes his accusation that Lal first blackmailed him, then shot one of his players and nearly killed his wife, as a terrified Lynda looks on.

Frustrated on the pitch by Gordon's dog-like managerial style, Didier is hot-headed with Bazeley and is given his second yellow, and thus red carded. The final whistle goes and the holders Harchester are out. Billy lets Ray know that Wolves were winding Didier up all game, and then Gordon made him feel worse. Gordon gives his post match interview and puts the blame on Didier for taking the wages but not putting the effort in, and his sending off which has cost them the FA Cup today. Didier tells Ray he knows he told him he’d stay until Luis returned but he can't play his football here, and wants to leave.

Notes:

The Best: As he waits for Eddie at the station, two police officers find Scott’s situation hilarious, obviously not Harchester fans. Marilyn is in fine form as she grills Scott, Eddie and Ann, although has no reason to suspect Gordon at this time. The reappearance of Lal and his confrontation, and slightly hilarious attempt to strangle the “devious devil” Block. Followed by Jerry accusing him of being responsible for each bad turn of the last year, only leaving out the plane crash.

·          Continuity: Lynda refers to she and Jerry having Lal and his wife over here, presumably their previous mansion, for dinner.

What Was The Score?: First Division Wolves in the FA Cup. The visitors take the lead when Bazeley scores. Two yellow cards see Didier red carded and Wolves secure a win to be through to the Fifth Round.

·          Soundtrack: The Charlatans: "The Only One I Know"
