Having drawn against Coventry, Ray tells the team they now have to win against Sunderland, Everton and Man Utd. It's Scott's birthday, and he dodges training and spends the day on his sofa wrapped in his duvet. Kelly goes to his flat to find out what's going on, and brings up what he knows about she and Fletch. Scott snaps if anyone is going to say anything it's big-mouthed Fletch. When Kelly asks if he will be fit enough for the photoshoot tomorrow, Scott flips and yells Kelly out of the door. Kelly goes back and tells Ann, who says it will actually be a relief for her if Scott drops them as his PR.

At training, Luis approaches Ray about playing him once more, needing another club to see him on the pitch, but Ray believes he still isn't ready. Luis snaps that Ray is supposed to be his friend and wouldn't even be at Harchester if it wasn't for he bringing him here. Ray warns Luis they are going to fall out if his attitude continues. Scott gets dressed when Ray turns up, and Ray talks to him about football being a team game, but Scott has had problems with his team mates since he came here. Scott defends himself as it being his team mates’ problem and believes Ray is also blaming him for the recent losses. Frustrated, Scott kicks over his table saying he wants to be done with football, and Ray picks up his card realising it's his birthday.

Didier spots troubled Luis and takes him into his taxi to go for a drink. Ray drops in on Ann at Patterson PR, and asks her if she'd talk to Scott. Ann is hesitant, after how Scott has troubled her since they broke up, but Ray informs her she would be a help he needs. At Studs, Didier advises Luis that Ray is a good manager and doesn't think he's fit yet, while Luis adds when he got with Lynda she wasn't the boss and fears she's turning into her husband. Scott gets a shock when he finds Ann waiting in the flat, and when she asks why he won't see a therapist Scott breaks down crying. Luis hears Lynda has allowed Fletch a suite at The Grange when all he's had for two seasons is a small room there, and he and Didier join Fletch and the team for a boozy session.

Scott says he would do the therapy if it made Ann come back to him, but she tells him that can't happen because she's so wrong for him. Ann asks him to try the therapy just once for her, which Scott agrees to. Lynda invites Ray round to dinner for he and Luis to patch things up, and they talk of what will happen if Harchester goes down. The board will force Lynda to sack Ray and he'll go back to Kitty in Devon. Lynda thinks she will have to sell to Prash as it's what Luis wants her to do. At that moment a sozzled Luis appears with Didier and announces he's invited his friend to move in before passing out on the sofa. After Scott tells her he only got two cards, one from his mother and other brother Darren, Ann puts together a homemade birthday card, with a photo of him scoring a goal on the front, and quietly leaves. Scott opens his eyes and smiles at the card.

Notes:

The Best: Ray and Ann’s attempts at getting through to Scott. A tipsy Luis, and Didier with his head in his plant, in the back of the taxi on way to move him into the Block’s mansion.

·          Quotes: Fletch getting a head start on Doggies by asking opponent Luis "What's it like sleeping with the chairman?". Obviously a trait he learned from dad Jonny who does similar in DT80’s #1.

Foreshadowing: Lynda working with the kit suppliers to choose next season's strip.

·          Continuity: Amongst Scott’s known problems with Didier, Wes and now Fletch, Ray lists what Luis told him about his clash with Sean. Scott recalls Fletch punching him at the funeral as a reason why he can't get on with him.

Additional Info: Ray views Sky Text Football which places Harchester 17th in the Premiership table for 20th April 2000.

·          Soundtrack: Robbie Williams: "She's The One",  Melanie C: "Goin Down"
