With 24 hours until the Mallorca home leg, Dawn thinks David shouldn't take charge because of the professional damage if he loses. Lynda tells David the fans and the board are going to be wanting a big name signing to replace Alan but would like him to continue for the time being, which includes the Mallorca game. David knows he will have a chance if they win, but if they lose he will definitely be gone. Stevie and Andrei spot Claudia and make a £1 bet on who will be the first to pull her. Stevie even gets in on delivering Claudia's breakfast, and when she isn't looking swipes her negligee, narrowly missing running into fiancee Yasmin coming down the hall!

Jamie and Tash are still looking after Andrei's hand delivered baby, whom has been given the name Timmy, and Jamie ropes Nikki into looking after him while he is at training. Lynda has approached John Barnes about he potentially coming in as the new manager, and taking him into the Mill Lane changing room, David has to shake hands with the man about to take his job. Jamie runs into John, who surprises he and Tash by showing them the back cover of the Chronicle featuring “their” media star baby! Tash tells Andrei he has to give the baby back to the mother, but Andrei says that will only happen if she and Jamie pay another ten grand for her to come back.

Fletch meets with Carson-Brandt where he is asked does he have any idea how the blood got on his tracksuit. Fletch still doesn't know. Danny offers to help Tash change the baby, having had practice with his younger brothers and sisters. Suddenly Hankin is at the door yelling questions on where the Parker's adopted the baby from, as all the agencies he has tried never dealt with them. Brandt puts it to Fletch that his trousers were left in the dressing room, where they could have been accessed by anyone causing the blood to get there, and will use this to request the case against him be dropped.

David addresses the team with how a win against Mallorca will see them playing Champions League football all autumn. Tash gets a visit from social services regarding the baby, and can't even tell them the mother's name only they are looking after him for a friend of Andrei's. In court, the CPS solicitor reveals a new statement from an eyewitness that places Fletch at the murder scene, which means the case won't be dismissed. Nikki and Claudia get a surprise when they think they are collecting a pass for Stevie's fiancee Yasmin, only for a woman called Maddie to turn up and announce it is for her! Stevie encourages Danny and others to go against David's formation so he will look bad.

The Dragon’s are 2-0 down at half time, and as punishment for going against his instruction and performing badly, David sends the team back onto the pitch with ten minutes of half time still to go. Despite a fightback in the second half and a goal from Danny, Mallorca go forward in the Champions League while Harchester have to settle for their place in the UEFA Cup. In the dressing room, Lynda listens as David gives what he believes will be his last speech, with how the lads showed what they can achieve when they play as a team and will be better players for it. Tash and Jamie hold a press conference where they reunite baby not-Timmy but Dorinel with his mother and announce after looking after him they will be sponsoring he and other children in his home village.

Notes:

Best Known For: Andrew Hall came to prominence with the role of Russell Parkinson in much-loved sitcom "Butterflies" (1978-83) and reprised the role for a reunion special in 2000. He also had roles as Dave Spencer in "Children's Ward" (1989), "Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married" (1999) and Marc Selby in "Coronation Street" (2011)

Bindya Solanki played the regular role of Nina Mistry in "EastEnders", arriving only a month after this DT appearance, and stayed until 2003, with a brief return in 2019.

Suzy Cooper was another regular in BSB's Galaxy channel soap "Jupiter Moon" (1990-91), and appeared as Jackie in "The Booze Cruise" trilogy (2003-06)

The Best: John Barnes’s appearance and he is back for another in 9.11 War of the Roses though set seven years before this episode!

Continuity: As Stevie sniffs around Claudia, Lynda refers to having had the same with footballers when she first came to the club, unaware Claudia is the subject of a bet between Stevie and Andrei, as she was with Fletch and Luis in Season 2.

Additional Info: Jamie used to clean John Barnes's boots as an apprentice at Anfield.

Surprise!: Harchester's new European strip. One could even joke of it being put together using leftover Season 4 home and away HUFC strips!

What Was The Score?: Güiza sends a corner kick to Nadal giving Mallorca the lead nine mins in. On the cusp of half time Biagini slots a second in for Mallorca. Danny gives Harchester their first goal in the second half. They are back to needing two goals again when Eto’o scores, and with only five minutes do not manage it.

Soundtrack: Queens of the Stone Age: "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret",  Travis: "Sing"
