Adi Coleman was a former Arsenal academy team mate of Leon Richards, and played up front. A couple of months after Leon arrived in the Harchester United youth team, both sides played in an Under 19's match, and afterwards Adi approaches Frank to reveal he is not happy with his lack-of-progress at the Gunners. Adi ultimately leaves to join Harchester's youth team, and those around him are surprised how his future career and prospects have been mapped out by his law-savvy mother Corrine and his very own agent Cyril Preston. His decision appears to pay off fairly early when Ian Coates talks of wanting to boost the home-grown talent coming through the youth team, and if Adi works hard he could be training with Fletch and Luis.

Adi's social commitments set up by his agent begin to tire Frank, though his 'Footballers for the Millennium' photoshoot works in the club's favour when facing an FA investigation for racism. The photographer gets Adi and Alex Wilkinson to pose together holding a ball showing both races side by side. When Adi watches Billy make the bench for a first team game against Arsenal, and then sees another chance snatched away by the return of a recently out Luis, Adi is disillusioned that other players are being put in front of him again just like at his old club.

At around the time Frank takes over caretaking duties of the first team, Adi begins selling caffeine tablets to various youth and first team players. When Alex drugs Leon with speed, and at the same time Adi's caffeine pill stash is uncovered, Adi is under suspicion for bringing drugs into the hostel. On a search of Adi's room, a plastic sachet with what looks like speed is found under his mattress, having been planted there by Alex. Adi snaps at Frank how he's had enough and wants to leave the club, not caring if people think he is guilty, and lays into Frank for only giving him one outing in the reserves instead of the first team football he should have got. Adi leaves, believing Leon or Billy were responsible for his downfall, and seemingly never learning it was in fact his 'mate' Alex.
