With less than ten minutes of Harchester v. Rangers to go, a fuming Scott leaves the bench to warm up on the pitchside, knowing the crowd will support him to be brought on. With two further goals from Billy and Wes in quick succession, the final whistle goes and the team celebrate, but Scott is in no mood and walks alone into the tunnel. Ann suggests to Dider that he forget about Arsenal and come here, for he and Michael would play brilliantly together and if he needed someone for PR...

Marilyn informs Jerry that Mr. Yoshimoto is happy to continue with the sponsorship and the delayed money will soon be in the bank. Wes and Billy give their post match interview, and Wes is awarded Man of the Match. Luis, Didier and Ray meet in the tunnel where they lament Ray leaving at such a high point for the team, and both he and Luis are thrilled when Didier announces he would like to sign for Harchester, with problems having arisen with any move to Arsenal. Scott interrupts, refusing to take part in the celebrations, and demands Luis speak with him right now.

Scott accuses Luis of humiliating him publicly in front of the team and the fans. Luis tells him he's a good player but disrupts the team, and to come and celebrate the win to show that he supports his team mates. Scott walks out, saying he is calling his agent. Ann makes plans to go house-hunting with Michael, with her business now taking off here in Harchester. Luis introduces Didier to Jerry, and Gordon takes over, knowing that Didier could strengthen their defence. Kitty gets it out of Ray that he'll be sad to leave the boys, and she tells him to take another month with them, because after that she really will need him.

When Jerry alludes to the club's financial status, Gordon suggests they sell some of their lesser-worth players in order to bring Didier in. Jerry returns to the house to find Lynda has taken all of her clothes and left him. As Billy, Wes, Kelly and Zena head off for their night on the town, Wes needs to change out of his champagne-wet club suit back at The Grange. Billy says it would be quicker if he went to his flat and borrowed one of Leon's shirts, as they aren't doing anything but hanging now. Wes agrees, making sure Billy is OK with this which he is. Jerry sits alone on the sofa looking at the Season 2 promotional shot framed photograph of he and Lynda and weeps.

Notes:

The Best: Gordon already learning Kelly-Darling's name well enough to call on her to keep the refreshments coming! Believing this to be Ray's last game with the team before he heads back to his farm, Dion Osbourne and Andy Ansah pick Ray up and dunk him in the spa baths, to the team’s cheering. In other soaking news, as the lads pose for a team picture Eddie takes a bottle of champagne and soaks Wes.

·          Foreshadowing: Zena tells Kelly about the interview she has coming up as a music reporter, and will be interviewing bands and going to all the gigs. We get the first mention of Scott’s agent, who is the long-running Jeff Stein, about to make his debut appearance in 3.19.

Additional Info: Jerry reveals he met Gordon in Beirut in the best (and only!) drinking club in the country. Didier’s contract is up with Monaco at the end of the season.

·          What Was The Score?: With 2 mins to go, Wes gets a great clear run and passes to Billy who scores. Before time is even out Wes gets the moment of his career so far, taking Harchester up 3-1, and Harchester's place in Round 3 of the UEFA Cup is secured.

Soundtrack: Robbie Williams: "Let Me Entertain You",  Massive Attack: "Tear Drops"

·          Behind The Scenes: Shortly after Didier’s on-screen arrival in November 1999, a fictional story appeared on fansite ArsenalShorts, which told of how Liverpool had put in a bid of £3.5M for Baptiste. The story somehow came to be viewed as a real-life exclusive and was printed by The Guardian (who had their own pricing for Baptiste at £1M), The Times, News of the World and various sports sites. Jane Hewland said at the series’ end in 2007 that she thought it had been the best publicity the show had ever had, apart for when Jordan/Katie Price did the show in 6.23: Bending the Truth.
