Gordon finds two heavies in his office, the main one Kenny reminds him he owes their boss thirty-four grand. Didier announces to the team Kitty had a boy, and Ray will be back today. Gordon has returned to the managerial role in Ray's absence, and Didier is wanting to use Ray's tactics to give them the best chance of winning the Southampton game. Didier phones the Blocks and invites Jerry and Lynda for dinner to thank Ray for all his work at the club while Kitty’s been pregnant. Lynda says Jerry will be away, but Maxine believes Lynda could represent the club just as well as Jerry.

Gordon gets on the phone to Paul Hankin and says his latest stories are worth ten grand, especially after the three previous front pages he's given him. Gordon is distracted by Didier's formation on the training pitch, and gives Terry a tirade for not implementing his orders to the team. Lynda catches Maxine leaving a message for Didier, and finds herself volunteered for tonight's dinner. Kelly tells Ann about all the work she is doing with Wes, and when Ann asks does she want Wes as a client or a lover, Kelly remarks she talks about Scott just as much. Ann snaps that she's getting married in less than a month and unlike Wes Scott is a client, clearly touching a nerve.

Gordon meets with Hankin in his car, and Hankin doesn't think much of Gordon's tale that club secretary Roger Frost pulled a transsexual in a bar two years ago. Hankin remarks he could just tell the Inland Revenue about all the money the paper has paid Gordon. Maxine pressurises Lynda into changing out of a respectful outfit for something more sexy for the dinner. Ann has achieved a big road safety campaign for Scott, but is frustrated by having to conduct her office from a hotel room when she nearly had a house set up before. As Lynda leaves she makes sure Maxine knows to tell Jerry where she's gone and how it's a business dinner, but Maxine's smirk makes it clear she won't be.

Scott lets Ann in on how he's bought a patch of land in Kent and plans to build a big family home for himself there. Wes drafts Eddie in to save his meal for Kelly, but she arrives before Eddie can leave and he is stuck in the other room. Jerry arrives home and Maxine will only tell him Didier phoned and invited Lynda out for drinks. Jerry is determined to get down there. Ann tells Scott she envies him, knowing where he's going where as she and Michael don't discuss the future beyond football. Scott moves in to kiss Ann, but she backs away. A guilty Wes admits to Kelly that Eddie cooked most of the meal, and Kelly surprises him by saying she appreciates his honesty.

Ann gets back to Michael who is angry he was left with the vicar all evening, and suggests she check her schedule to fit him in. As Lynda and Didier view pictures of the baby, Gordon invites himself over, and seems confused that the baby in the photos is Ray's. Didier bluntly reminds him Kitty is from Thailand. Ray takes Gordon aside, and tells him he knows the truth about what went on with Terry. Ray is not happy that Gordon has the team all over the place going against what he had set out. Gordon insists he is the manager, and Ray adds the only one making them slip further down the table since Luis has been gone is him. Jerry enters and spots Lynda with just Didier. Jerry goes over and accuses Lynda of being half dressed with "another foreign playboy" footballer. He refuses to hear her answers and orders Lynda home.

Notes:

The Best: Jerry returning to find Maxine trying on one of Lynda's dresses, and dryly not disagreeing that it is a bit small for her. Ray revealing he and Kitty are calling their son William, and when Lynda asks after the Prince Ray responds after Bill Shankly, Liverpool's greatest manager.

·          Continuity: Kelly asks Wes did Zena have to make the first move, before kissing him.

Additional Info: Hankin mentions how they've had a tracker on Marilyn in the States because Gordon said she'd be meeting Rodriguez, but she hasn't been near him. Luis is back in three weeks.
