Mrs Quinn has aged well... Gavin, Cindi *Mr Fleming directing from the table Liam, Gemma and a very quiet road J.F, Gavin, Sean, Miguel |
GS: Tony Franks (Neal Barry) Jonathan “J.F” Freddericks (Daniel Hyde) Councillor [Sheila] (Heather Tobias) The team attend a Casino Royale style charity benefit night. Jimmy brings Gemma along for an evening out, and as she and Liam find common ground in wondering if they should have come, Gemma apologises to Sean for “the other night”, while Sean makes it clear he is just sorry he didn't get to spend the night with her! Soon Miguel is bored of gambling with chips, and entices Sean and Gavin into joining him to play for real money, at a private gambling club he belongs to. Miguel introduces them to Jonathan "J.F" Freddericks, the owner. Gemma’s vision of the spinning roulette wheel overcomes her, and she begins to have flashbacks to the accident and tries to run out, with Liam attempting to help her but Jimmy gets in there first. Jimmy and Gemma visit the G.P, Sheila at the hospital, where she tells Jimmy he must consider what would be best for Gemma if her condition doesn't ever improve. Cindi tells Gavin how in order to up their profile as Harchester's Posh & Becks(!) they will need to move from the Barrons to a more exclusive home. Sean reminds Tony of how his mom was looking to set up her own beauty salon and had found the perfect place but was one hundred grand down, so will now be funding the remaining cash she needed. Cindi drags Gavin to view some grand mansion she claims will be called Belle Moody. Returning to their six-bedroom house brings Cindi back to Earth, and Gavin is worried about the costs constantly rising, but seeing how happy the house makes Cindi, tells her she'll have to pick a better name than Belle Moody. Gavin, Miguel and Sean continue their luck as The Invincibles, and it shines through on the pitch over the next few games: winning against J.F suggests to the boys that they get into spread-betting, giving them the address of his online company. Liam has an idea to help Gemma regain more of her memory, and takes her to the training ground showers, reminding her it was where they first met. He takes her next to the leafy road where Gemma phoned him after she'd got into the unlicensed taxi. He lastly takes her back to his, where Liam has put up his Christmas tree especially for Gemma, to remind her of when she broke in to decorate the living room after his divorce papers came through. Gemma says she's glad she doesn't remember the girl she used to be, as she sounds like trouble, although Liam admits he was just beginning to like her. Luck begins to run out for the Invincibles when a bad play from Miguel loses them everything they've won over the past few weeks (nearly £1M). The boys decide to try and win it back, and they finish owing half a million each. As Gavin does more cringing over losing the deposit for the house, Miguel thinks he's found the solution with more gambling, this time with the spread-betting J.F suggested. Things go from bad to worse for the Unvincible trio (as they’ll now be known), when the spread-betting backfires, and Gavin, who had used the last of his credit, ends up owing £600,000. Gemma runs to Liam's door in the dark to announce that she's remembered the crash while dreaming - and remembers running over Liam's foot. Liam accompanies Gemma home to tell Jimmy her memories are coming back, and adds she probably wouldn't have remembered if it wasn't for Liam, and Jimmy thanks his captain. At training, Miguel convinces Sean they have to go back to Freddericks to try and win back the money. Liam arrives home to find Gemma waiting, having remembered to use the back window again. She says it's come back to her that she kissed him, and tries again, for Liam to back away, again. Liam tells her he can't as she's the Gaffer's daughter, and Gemma replies she has a problem then. As she goes to leave, Liam stops her and kisses her back. J.F calls the boys to his office where he hands them individual statements of what they owe, adding that he's giving them three days to pay it all back, and they don't want to make him wait. Notes: Best Known For: Like Andrew McNair in the previous episode, Daniel Hyde came to prominence on “Hollyoaks” at the same time, playing bad boy Scott Anderson between 2001-05. This followed what was set to be the regular role of Jason Wilding in "Family Affairs" in 2005 only for the series to be axed shortly into his character’s duration. The Best: J.F. Easily the best thing about the Invincibles story. Cindi sets about ordering a Moody-engraved fountain similar (but definitely not the same!) to one Missy Elliot used to have. Quotes: Kramer to Jimmy: “Did you speak to the Foo-d Fighters?” Jimmy (watching Gavin, Miguel and Sean train): “If they carry on like that I’ll personally turn up with a tray of custard pies and join in” Foreshadowing: Sean’s mother, Michelle is mentioned, ahead of her appearance in 10.23 Fever. J.F certainly likes his chewing gum huh? [10.21 The House Always Wins] Continuity: Heather Tobias resumes her role as Sheila, seen in 4.15 (#217) as Lynda’s GP (and DT80’s as Mrs Quinn of course). Additional Info: *DT director Ian D Fleming (who did this episode) appears as one of Miguel’s opponents in a poker game at Freddericks. What Was The Score?: Match 1: Harchester 3-0 win against Soundtrack: Jet: "Last Chance" and "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is", Primal Scream: "Dolls", Sugababes: "Red Dress" |
