A car pulls up outside the Lair and out steps Sully, before the driver hands him a pair of crutches. He sees Kramer who seems edgy around him, before Amy is pleased he is back. Liam asks Danny how his knee is, and Sully insists it isn't as bad as the replay of him going down looked. Danny is referred to the specialist Mr Evans, who says he'll need a couple of weeks out to recover, and Sully is hopeful he can be back playing with Southend within three. Tyson tells the boys about J.F’s death, and they pretend they didn’t really visit Freddericks. Katy informs Jason of the lengths Phil and Deano went to get him the Fletch shirt, but he is unable to tell her the truth about why he wasn't there. Over fried chicken, the boys discuss initiating Jason as an Invincible so he will be one of them and not just an alibi.

Sean has an idea, and they drag Jason round to where an "initiation service" is set up, featuring the chicken bones. Sean begins by telling Jason how in Jamaica this is known as Obeah, a way of life for luck. Sean takes the Fletch shirt as a symbol of their “brotherhood”. When asked to sacrifice blood, Jason uses a pine needle on his finger. Sean begins chanting in what appears to be an accent language, and concludes with how the four of them are now protected by the sprits. They are freaked out when a light bulb suddenly blows, and the boys begin to fear they might have actually made contact. Jason leaves with the Fletch shirt, and Gavin asks Sean whether any of that was real. Sean reveals he was taking the mick and wouldn't know how to really do it, adding his mom is from Deptford not Jamaica! Gavin gets round to telling Cindi they've lost Belle Moody - and saves himself by claiming the estate agent took another offer from underneath them.

Luck seems to be smiling down on Jason when he finds a £50 note outside the training ground. Jason gets in touch with Phil and Deano, so he can explain things to them. It is clear there is now a lot of distance between the old pals, and even the easy-going Phil backs Deano up when he tells Jason they don't want to know him anymore. Jason tells them he knows he's been stupid, and he's sorry, and thought of how he could make it up to them – back in the days where all their problems could be solved with lottery tickets, a Chinese and playing games on the XBox, so that's exactly what he's done. The boys are ready to forgive Jason. Sully is irritated when Kim stalls him over seeing the twins, so he goes round to the house where he gets a surprise when Steve appears from behind Kim. Danny learns that Kim and Steve are now seeing each other, and feels even more isolated, having a new man in his kids’ lives. Liam reminds Sully that Steve is no longer his coach, and has to break the news of how the team is aware of Steve and Kim's relationship.

Jason's run of luck continues when Deano scoops five numbers with the lottery ticket he bought, and tells his two mates they can share the two-grand prize between them. This is followed by Jimmy telling Jason he's a definite to start against Sheffield United tomorrow. A drunken Danny turns up at the team dinner and angrily accuses the team of treating him like a has-been, before wishing Steve good luck with Kim, as he's going to need it! Sully goes in for his arthroscopy, whilst Amy learns about it for the first time from Jimmy. Danny wakes up from the anesthetic with Amy by his side, and they await the results from Mr Evans. The final whistle is blown and Harchester win 2-0. Mr Evans tells Danny he will need an operation to make sure he is not crippled later in life. When Sully asks how much longer this will take him out of the game for, Mr Evans replies that he will not be able to return to playing, and his career as a footballer is effectively over. Danny and Amy are both shocked by this news, and Sully seems unable to comprehend it. He returns home and starts drinking, before smashing a lamp in frustration.

Notes:

Logic: It does feel like a bit of an injustice, that Sully’s injury which ends his playing career, had to happen off-screen. Even if there wasn’t room for both he and Sean in the team, couldn’t a less prominent HUFC player have been transferred to Southend instead?

Additional Info: Danny and Kim’s divorce has come through since she was last seen in 10.15 Deadline Day.

What Was The Score?: A cross from Bradley Summers leads to a goal from Jason, and the Dragons go in 1-0 at half time. During the second half, a penalty kick from Miguel takes the Dragons up 2-0, and they secure three points.

Soundtrack: Bees: "Chicken Payback",  Bloc Party: "Banquet",  Jet: "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Kings Horses",  Scissor Sisters: "Oh",  The Go! Team: "Everyone's a V.I.P to Someone"
