The only thing big that ever needed to be pointed out with Phil was his big heart. He is a loyal friend to Deano, Jason and Katy, the four attending every Harchester United game home and away together. Phil also works with Deano and Jason at the TopTyrez Tyre Bay and are looking forward to the start of the 2006-07 season and its last pre-season friendly game away to Southend. During the match Jase's mouth gets him into trouble with Alex Rose, who to Phil and the others’ shock, puts him on the pitch to show him he can do better. Jason's goal wins the match, and Phil is stunned when the Gaffer later shows up at their workplace to offer Jase a month's trial. As Jason proves himself in a reserve match against Leyton Orient, Phil, Deano and Katy are there to cheer him on, and are over the moon when Jimmy Craig offers him pro contract.
Jason is quick to spend his new income on a 50" screen television, and with Katy annoyed with him, Phil stays over. The next morning Jason tasks him with locking the door, but Phil is watched putting the key under a box, and the flat is burgled. The event causes Jason and Katy to move into the Barrons, and Phil helps them transport their things. When Jason is about to get his call-up from the bench, he struggles with his inner fears. Phil accompanies him to the club at night and reminds him how he's had the best times of his life at the stadium, and tomorrow will be another one of those moments. When a car dealership sponsors Jason, he gets a brand new motor, which he calls on Phil and Deano to take a test drive. Upon returning, their boss knows they took unauthorised leave and sacks them. Jason feels guilty and tells the boys he will look after them, but soon begins to regret that when Phil and Deano want to join him at training and bother Jason's team mates, so he has to let them go.
On Jason's birthday, the boys and Katy organise the one piece of Harchester United Jason doesn't have now he's in the team - Karl Fletcher's FA Cup winning shirt. When Jase is caught up in the accidental death of casino boss Jonathan Freddericks, he misses his birthday gathering, and Phil and Deano have had enough of being sidelined. Jason reconnects with his oldest friends, and brings them back together with lottery tickets, Chinese food and XBox games like the old days. At Jason's stag night, it is revealed Jase had a one-night-stand with Emma, and although unhappy about it, Phil and Deano are persuaded to keep quiet for Katy's happiness. Jase himself confesses at the alter, and turns to his pre-Dragon life, playing five-a-side on he, Phil and Deano’s old playground.
In the week Harchester are set to face Chelsea for their first title in 21 years, Jason finds himself accused of being Dragonslayer, the anonymous blogger working against the team to destroy their title hopes. Phil, along with Katy, is one of Jason's staunch defenders, knowing he couldn't have done it to the club he loves, and make the team and Jimmy see sense. At Harchester's most historic game, Phil is with Deano and Katy in the stands to see Jason get off the bench in the second half to contribute the goal that would take the Dragons to 2-1 as the final seconds of the game ticked down.
