Lynda is released from hospital, and she and Alex both know Burrows is not going to stop until one of them is in prison. Lynda is distraught at he turning himself in, but the baby must come first and Alex needs to clear his conscience. It's the first day of Jason's trial, and after being put straight on which team he'll be training with, the reserve team are just as unwelcoming to Jason as the first team were. Amy informs Alex how Sky have a team on standby to do a documentary on 'Tyre Boy'. Today is Miguel's first training session, where upon seeing the partnership Gavin and Miguel have formed, Alex finds the passion he had for the game in himself once again. Alex discusses with Sully and Liam the prospect of bringing in another player who’ll further increase the Dragons' chances of finishing better than just Top 6. Alex tells Lynda today made him want to manage one more game before he hands himself him, and Lynda is worried. That night, Lynda dreams Alex hands her into Burrows that she killed Casper, and wakes up with a scream.

Chloe is frustrated at the lack of success she is having in tracing Pavel Kovac, who is said to be in London following a “bust-up with his agent.” Liam suggests she speak to Alex regarding Kovac, and get one over Tony Franks. Tony is in on Alex’s quest to buy a quality known player. Chloe brings up Pavel Kovac being out of contract with Milan in a year, and has managed to convince him to come for talks with Harchester. The reserves continue their pranks on Jason, when Bradley Summers is passed Jason's boxers and sprays them with deep heat. Unfortunately for Jason, he has another recording with the camera crew straight after, and has to dash off holding his crotch! Lynda hears the news report that Ashleigh has been released from custody without charge, due to there being a lack of sustainable evidence. There’s a knock at the door, and Burrows and his team push past Lynda to search her room.

Alex meanwhile is about to meet the great Pavel Kovac, who arrives with Chloe, seemingly concerned about how she discovered he was in London. Burrows informs Lynda of how after having evidence from Casper's room re-examined, hairs belonging to both she and Alex were found. Tony and Miguel enter the Blue Room and greet Pavel, where it is clear he and Miguel are old friends. Alex tells the men he'd love to see them play together, if just once, and Pavel agrees to sign. That night, Lynda has become more concerned that Alex is not going to give the club up, and questions him about it. He tells her they have the chance to leave a real legacy, and he wants to do it in his brother's name. Alex adds the only place he can make it work is at Harchester, and Lynda concedes, saying she'll go ahead with whatever he wants. Alex is getting ready to watch Tyre Boy in the reserve team match. Lynda has other things on her mind, and after feeling the baby kick, she sees Alex off for what she knows will be the last time in Harchester.

As Alex attends Pavel's medical with Chloe, Lynda is packing in their room, and on the phone to Louis. She then speaks with Angie, and reassures her that she can't explain right now but everything will be okay when she collects Louis. Although he starts on the bench, Jason gets his chance, but it is tainted with bad luck, and before long Reserve team coach Gary has taken him off again. Alex consoles Jason that he can't win them all. After the game, Jason is met by Amy and the film crew, and lets them know he really isn't in the mood for this. When Amy says that's not part of the deal, Jason puts her straight that he didn't come here to be a 'deal', but to be himself - Jason Porter and to play football. Amy realises that Jason has been treated like a commodity and apologises. Alex returns to the Lair, where the club doctor tells him Pavel is in great physical condition and they only need await the blood test results. Pavel is still acting shifty around the whole thing, though. Lynda leaves Alex a letter and heads to reception with her bags packed, telling the receptionist she won't be leaving a forwarding address. Lynda then takes a last look before walking away.

Notes:

Alison King’s second regular stint as Lynda Block ends here, as she leaves to take up the role of Carla Connor in “Coronation Street”, appearing from December 2006, with former DT Script Editor Steve Frost/November heading up Corrie at the time of her arrival. She returns for a special (and final) appearance as Lynda in 10.32 The Final Whistle - Part Two.

The Best: Amy, excited about her new role thanks Lynda, adding right now is such an exciting time to be at Harchester. Lynda distantly remarks that Amy sounds just like she used to, and Amy adds that’s not such a bad thing.

Quotes: Chloe is on top form as she nears her end: "...someone like Pavel Kovac"  (to Tony)  "Sorry?"  Tony: "I didn't say anything"  Chloe: "No I didn't think so!".  And: Tony (to Pavel): "You talking to Alex Rose?"  Chloe (sarcastically): "No we're just big fans of the desert menu here!"

Continuity: Burrows informs Lynda that Ashleigh has gone back to Holland to recuperate, snidely adding that he doesn’t blame the poor girl.

Additional Info: We get the first look of the “new” Barrons location from this episode, formally a straight line of detached houses to a now cul-de-sac. As in 4.14 it was mentioned that The Barrons were ten houses, and we only saw five in the first setting, it could be imagined that this new appearance features the rest. The reasons behind this relocation for the final season were never explained.

Soundtrack: Dirty Pretty Things: "Bang Bang You're Dead",  Kasabian: "Club Foot",  Max Mo Park: "Apply Some Pressure”,  Razorlight: "Back To The Start",  Nelly: "Hot in Herre",  Stereophonics: "Dakota”
